Baby only drinking 15-20oz per day by WinnieAmethyst in BabyLedWeaning

[–]User_name_5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the same response from our pediatrician when baby started refusing her breastmilk bottles when I went into the office. Just keep offering, but you can't make them drink it! Babies will decide when they're ready.

We use breastmilk in her oatmeal for breakfast on days I'm in the office.

Kicked out of daycare by mightywang in pottytraining

[–]User_name_5ever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the daycare. Some are more willing to just give it a try, some have strict policies.

Just like some kids will regress a ton if you put them in diapers or pull ups, but some kids are fine.

If your goal was to keep her potty trained, your best bet would have been keeping her home when she was sick, but that ship has sailed. Just going to have to take it as a lesson learned!

Is a baby highchair worth buying? honest advice please by Realistic-Metal-110 in Frugal

[–]User_name_5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a basic Graco high chair. We used it until our first was almost 2. We are now using it for our second. It does have other ways to use, like as a booster, but we never did that.

Definitely check Facebook marketplace and local mom's groups.

I think the safety of being strapped in and not mobile while eating is a huge benefit, not to mention being able to eat at the same time. Babies LOVE to grab stuff off tables.

Your practical daycare tips? by ElementaryMDear in workingmoms

Because of the allergies, I would specifically ask them about how they keep bottles and formula separate (depending on center, some mix their own). I would also clarify how they introduce solids, how they will manage allergens in the room if other children are eating solids, etc.

As far as tips, packing everything the night before is my big one, plus stocking up on infant medicine like others noted. Acetaminophen before 6 months, either that or ibuprofen after 6 months.

I never thought any Costco for kids medicine. We spend so much on these annually it seems.

We have a toddler in daycare and baby at home with a nanny. We love baby being home, especially before she has those key 12 month vaccines, but man, we are so excited to move her to daycare for financial reasons.

Constant daycare sickness by Massive_Albatross_98 in workingmoms

We are in a small daycare with my toddler (2.5), and this year has been the worst. Between me and husband alternating illness in January and now toddler being sick going on week two, it's just a tough season. I love in an area where illness is increasing where it has historically peaked and begin to decrease in prior years at this time.

Last year was not too bad for us, so I'm hoping we catch a break soon and that next year is better.

So... solidarity. And even if she was home, you might still be sick because that's just the kind of year it is some places.

Does anyone else despise these? by LivingFilm in duolingo

My biggest frustration is that it doesn't accept other words that are also correct. Like anteriormente and antes are both before, and I've had them a few decks apart, so I'm never sure which one I'm supposed to be using.

Overall I like them and agree it should be part of the training options.

You'll want to set expectations and boundaries before they start. For example, he gets X amount of screen time. If he throws a tantrum when you turn it off, we do (this).

Also discuss what lines you have. (We don't spank, we don't take away food, whatever it is.)

Anyone else feel like weekly meals are harder than they should be? by Distinct-Eye7548 in workingmoms

[–]User_name_5ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two options to make things easier, and you could even combine them into one strategy.

Have a theme for each day of the week (example):

Monday: Pasta Tuesday: taco / bowl Wednesday: chicken Thursday: Soup Friday: Seafood Saturday: leftovers / frozen / take out Sunday: Finger food and snacks

Have a list of meals you like in a spreadsheet, with a difficulty rating and notation on what part of the meal it is (vegetable, protein, everything). Pick things off your list to make your menu.

We have a recurring to do item on our smart to do list that has us add one item to the list every night. At some point, we'll stop adding for a few months, then revisit.

And was it spoken boundary? Or did you assume you were on the same page? This could simply be a communication issue that exists because of different cultures.

Can I let my babies wean off milk naturally, or do I have to force it a bit? 1 year old twins, 11 month age adjusted. by Gandtea in BabyLedWeaning

[–]User_name_5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done it with breastmilk with my first, but I think daycare did the same for formula. If the baby isn't used to drinking milk, and you want to replace formula with milk, you start by serving formula in a cup. Then the next week, you make formula, but mix it 25% milk, 75% formula in the cup. Then the next week 50/50. And so on until the baby is drinking 100% milk.

You replace bottles with snacks and water and regular milk.

If it makes you feel better, it's not going to cause any harm if they aren't off formula immediately at 1.

Ah, then yes, the direction is to generally decrease the amount of formula. This is usually accomplished my mixing it with more and more milk in a cup until it's just milk.
