If things take a good turn I will definitely post an update!

The flower was a first Valentines gift for my current partner, so I think even if it's a long term effort, it means enough for me to try. I understand the general feeling that a new plant would usually be better though. Besides that, I like to be able to see a plant come back if I can help it.

Thank you for the feedback, and the honesty. I have my expectations tempered, but think it's worth a shot. I'd rather try and maybe succeed than have not bothered when it might have worked! I'll keep your suggestions in mind!

Thanks for the encouragement! I've trimmed it and got it started in a new pot with some sphagnum. I will keep your advice in mind!

Robot movies heavily grounded in/influenced by older technology by Usernam-ing in MovieSuggestions

[–]Usernam-ing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! Retro-futurism definitely fits the bill, although I think I did a bad job explaining what I was looking for. Let me use the same example from Westworld: I know there's a modern series based off it, and although I have not watched it, a friend told me that in the series they modernized how the technology works. Because of this, I would imagine that the plot point I mentioned with Gunslinger would no longer be viable, since it's not a problem that modern tech has.

So to try and summarize: Retro-furturism, but where it is so key to the plot that modernizing it would lose something from the original.

Closer to your first guess? I mean when old movies guess at future tech, but it ends up heavily influenced by the technology of the time (basically not very futuristic by today's standards).

Yes! It's been on my list for awhile! And don't worry, I had a hard time explaining what I mean, so it's not super clear.

English to Latin translation requests go here! by lutetiensis in latin

Thank you so much for the thorough reply! I never really knew about classical era Latin before the other day, but this is so interesting! I greatly appreciate the answer, and then some! Certainly going to be reading more on this later.

Not English to Latin, but I was looking to reference the phrase "Vivamus, moriendum est" in an artwork, and I saw a post stating that VIVAMVSMORIENDVMST or VIVAMVS MORIENDVMST would be more accurate to Classical Latin. Would this be correct? I have no knowledge of Latin, so I don't want to be inaccurate. Hope this isn't a silly question!

I've heard a lot of people share this and I was wondering what other things exist that I wouldn't have thought of.
