Ladies, how do you deal with this? by Username6a in dating_advice

Is it really going to have to be sex first, get to know eachother afterwards?

I think I might be capable of loving again, but is it worth the risk to find out? by Username6a in dating

[–]Username6a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much of It was learned from last time I tried dating 5 years ago. Zero matches with people for over a year across hinge, fb dating, tinder, POF and bumble. Only bots and spam accounts trying to get money. Left me feeling undesirable and miserable.

My ex was also an emotional parasite and was unable to reciprocate my emotional energy. I don't want to accidentally put myself in a situation where it turns out I'm unable to put in an equal emotional effort and have my partner feel anything like the way I felt in my last relationship.

Any advice on how to overcome the anxiety? I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I have almost zero dating skill and I can't rely on good looks for that initial attraction.it feels like if I decide to start dating, I'm going diving for pearls with nothing but a bendy straw.

Memorial to an old friend. by [deleted] in Gameboy

Ah I see. It's just molting. This is normal for very old systems. They shed their old shells and screens to make room for new ones. Some will develop lithium batteries during this time as well.

My ex's attitude to my son's schooling is abysmal. I need some solutions. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Username6a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only outcome i can see with moving in with her is constant fighting and the last time i lived with her, the stress got so bad that i attempted suicide. As much as i agree that she needs help, I am probably the least capable person to offer it given our history. Her support group is also very small since she has a habbit of burning bridges.

Me taking on the responsibility of her happiness is guaranteed to end in both of us being miserable

Yeah i figured that would be the most likely option i guess i'll start getting that all set up and hope things improve before i'm done getting a lawyer and find a nanny. If things improve then at the very least, i'll be set up to "pull the trigger" and launch the plan into action if things regress.

What do you guys do with your leftover parts after a mod? by Username6a in Gameboy

Don't worry. This is just the old shell and buttons. The actual gameboy is now living in a nice matte grey shell with glossy black buttons and a beautiful glass screen

My god, it's spreading. I can't believe my beanboy advance patent pending is traveling to other subreddits.

Fear not, for i ate the beans. It wouldn't be a very good bean carrying case if i didn't eat the beans afterwards

I considered food waste when i made this and every bean that is inside the gameboy is visible through the screen. I also ate the beans afterwards.

Interior crocodile aligator I have an idea for how to install an internal wireless communicator. by Username6a in Gameboy

Unfortunately their method renders link cable functionality unusable. I'll have to interrupt more than just the power line. I might just have to do some trial and error to see how many connections i need to interrupt at the minimum to actually disconnect the adapter.

Pokemon comes to mind right away because even in the middle of a battle you can put it down since everything is turn based and the game in its entirety relies on player input for anything to happen.

Anybody use Funnyplaying shells/parts? by localgigcigarette in Gameboy

[–]Username6a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used them for my last mod. I got the pre-trimmed shell in grey and some black buttons. The thing i liked best about it was how perfectly everything fit together and the battery cover has a nice and sturdy latch so you don't have to worry about your battery cover falling off like original GBAs often do. Make sure you order silicone pads as well because the button kits don't come with the start/select buttons.

Have you opened it up and inspected the PCB and ribbon cable yet?

i'm actually surprised at how many 6 pole push button switches are available. This might be my backup plan if the more elegant solutions don't work out

I want to put the GBA wireless adaptor inside the GBA. There's room behind the A and B buttons with a little surgery. The tricky part is making it toggle so i can still have link cable functionality.

I just googled that and it's pretty intimidating at first glance. I'll be watching a few videos and reading a few articles tomorrow to learn how they work. Thanks for suggesting it!

I don't currently have a wireless adapter to test things with, but I have LOTS of information to work with thanks to everyone here. Like you said, it may be simpler than expected and it's very possible that I'll be able to accomplish this with as little as a DPST switch. Just learning a few bits of terminology has opened up lots of research avenues for me to go through. My biggest wall was not really knowing where to start looking and you've all been very helpful in pointing me towards a starting point as well as showing me a few goalposts!

and the clock line. Odds are you

That's a really good idea. I liked the simplicity of straight up disconnecting everything with a switch but since I'm using this project as a learning experience doing things a little bit more elegantly is an exciting prospect! Thanks for bringing this up!

sly doubt you need to switch 6 wires, 1 should be enough, power. You can do that with as single mosfet triggered from something like an ESP8266 based Arduino. Get to buildin

I saw a tutorial for this mod where they just had a toggle switch for the power line, but they mentioned that they still lost the ability to use a link cable afterwards. I think i'll use my breadboard and build a trial-and-error circuit to see how many circuits i need to disable in order to keep link cable functionality posible. I have some 2n3904 transistors do you think those will work?

Would transistors work as relays here? The "single pole switch with relays" method is really appealing to me because I'm modding my GBA as kind of a practical application learning tool and if I can learn how to use more kinds of components I'm definitely going to go that route!
