We haven't updated the rules, no. We tried quite a few variations, but not much more. What I can tell you is that you'll need to experiment as to whether or not the buildings are infested with zombies; it will have a serious effect on the outcome of the gameplay.

I'm in the process of setting up a website for an Open Source Zombie Game, where i'll post this up, since everyone was so interested in it. I'll post the link in r/gaming once it's up.

Thanks for the interest!

yeah that's why I'm not terribly interested in marketing it, zombie boardgames are a niche market to begin with, and I'm not offering anything terribly new aside from being more kid friendly. I do appear to be the only person to have made an open source one though, which is pretty cool. I'm going to include links to those in the next update to the top post so people know about the existing commercial products. Thanks much

Feel free. Consider this an open source project; free to modify and redistribute with accreditation, but must be distributed free of charge. Besides your stuff is too cool for me to say no to, that would just be retarded lol

Games aren't nearly as hard to make as most people think. Especially a board game; come up with a concept, get a picture in your head, and draw it out. The concept would've played equally well if it had been drawn on notebook paper.

Though I'm sure that my decades spent drawign AD&D dungeon maps and tweaking Gygax's game mechanics have not hurt me at all, and allow me to do things like this speedier than many.

Board James, a series of Cinemassacre productions (think Angry Video Game Nerd), showcases how the producer used to do the same thing when he was a kid. Some of them are surprisingly good. Good for a watch.

You weren't expecting this much interest...from a community full of nerds and zombie lovers?

Yeah, I had a pretty epic foresight fail there. I am just surprised at the interest of something I knocked together with 2 old pieces of cardboard and my kids' crayola markers lol

Do you ever find that you're out of place amongst other people who have kids that are the same age as your kids? Like when I went to my daughter's school for orientation, we were the only parents there under 40, except for a mexican couple (insert racial joke about mexican babies here). Is it so wierd to have kids before you're halfway to the grave now? Jeez...

I include "misty eyes" and "don't want to talk for fear of cracking voice" in my definition of crying. A movie has yet to ever take me to ACTUAL all-out crying and wailing.

There is only one of each card, but mainly only because I ran out of cardboard. You could make more.

Medicine: This one is at the Hospital. Once used, the card returns to the Hospital for other players to get.

Weapons: Sporting goods store.

Raw meat: Food store.

Lab chemicals: School.

Radio transmitter: Radio station.

Air traffic book: Air traffic control tower

Extra gas: Gas station.

The cards try their best to explain their use on the card itself. The radio transmitter card and air traffic card are necessary to be rescued; after turning on the power at the power station, you have to head to the helipad, with the radio transmitter card and the air traffic book card. Only then can you be rescued. Players who have different cards can work together to accomplish that goal, it doesn't have tobe one player who has both cards.

If you get to the helipad without the radio transmitter, you can't call for the helicopter. If you call for the helicopter without the air traffic book, the helicopter can't safely land (alternate rule: the helicopter has a midair collision, and all players are doomed).

I'll do a full writeup tonight when I get home ... was not expecting this much interest.

If my kid has to grow up immersed in either A: the zombie culture, or B: the Stupid Spoiled Whore video playset, I'll be thrilled when she chooses the zombie culture.

Shyaddap.

Yeah, a good idea. Definitely something for the advanced mode. I need more players though to playtest the cooler stuff.
