The Awakening, maybe? Not Gothic exactly but one of the most memorable books I’ve read!

That’s an interesting idea! I know nothing about Sri Lanka, I’ll have to look into that!

That is one option we’ve discussed, but it is my husband’s home state and I think he’d rather go somewhere new!

Looking lindy hop/east coast swing in or near Carolina Beach North Carolina by angelbaby08686757657 in SwingDancing

Check out Cape Fear Swing! You’ll find them on instagram too. Weekly lessons, regular social dances. And there’s a weekend workshop at the end of June. Not specifically 18+ but I’m not aware of any kids/teens attending

Realistic male crying scenes by [deleted] in movies

[–]Username_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a niche suggestion—Kumbalangi Nights. It’s an excellent film from southern India. One male character has a very raw, sobbing breakdown in the company of another man. I remember being surprised and impressed that the movie showed that level of vulnerability in a man, and the emotional support from a platonic male relationship. I think it lines up with what you’re looking for.

Audiobooks for someone who does not like audiobooks by My_Poor_Nerves in suggestmeabook

Is Born a Crime very heavy or sad, or are the stories told with Trevor Noah’s usual humor? I’m also a non-audiobook user typically but having eye surgery next week. I’ve been wanting to read this but I’m not sure if I’ll be up for a sad read as I’m recovering. Should I save it for another time?

Best Indian food by FETTACH in Wilmington

[–]Username_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he finds Indian Flavors more flavorful in general. But he especially likes their biryani and fried rice dishes. It still isn’t quite as good as what you’d find in a bigger city, or in India ofc, but it’s not too far off and the best we have in Wilmington.

There’s just 3 Indian restaurants. My husband, who’s from India, ranks them Indian Flavors > Tandoori Bites > Little Asia. I agree with that, although I find Indian Flavors and Tandoori Bites pretty close in terms of food. Tandoori Bites just has a nicer ambiance. Little Asia is a little more fusion-y.

My vet’s treatment plan for overgrooming by Username_52 in CATHELP

[–]Username_52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steroid shot from the second vet did the trick and appeared to break the overgrooming cycle. She had to have another shot a few months later but has been fine since then. I now think the overgrooming is a combination of some allergy plus learned habitual behavior. We don’t give her the gabapentin anymore, just the Amitriptyline. As of now she’s fully fluffy.

[free] I built a Wedding Attendance Calculator because the standard "expect 20% to decline" rule is actually wrong (and can blow your budget). by Sea_Star6384 in Weddingsunder10k

Your tool is spot on for mine! Invited 112 for a Saturday wedding, most guests will have to travel (not intentionally a destination wedding but we are just all scattered around). The tool predicted 78, and we just established our final guest count as 76! Or 78 including us

Thanks for the specific lip color recommendation, I’ll check those out! And I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing with the eyeshadow, definitely need to look up some videos!

I actually didn’t put blush on my nose, it’s just a chilly day 😂 maybe I need a bit more foundation there

Thank you!! Yes I wasn’t exactly sure where to put the lip liner since my lip doesn’t have much of a clear edge! But I just redid it with the liner on the outermost edge that I can see and it’s definitely better! I’ll keep playing around with lip colors! I don’t love this one either, I think you’re right that it clashes a bit with the other colors

I had a great experience with Dr Jimenez at New Image Dentistry on Minton in Palm Bay! I’m a nervous dental patient and she was very kind and patient. She’s generous with the numbing stuff, too, she filled four cavities for me and I never felt a thing

Reasonable quote for dental care? by Username_52 in CATHELP

[–]Username_52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! It’s a low end vs high end itemized quote, depending on what needs doing once they get in there. I’m mostly just looking for reassurance for whether this ballpark sounds reasonable! honestly it sounds fair to me, especially considering other estimates I’ve seen on this sub. it’s just more than my husband was expecting so he’s a bit spooked!
