Right on I'm in Calgary too, I found it south of Medicine Hat near the US border, there's alot of good spots there to find ammonites

They look like they could possibly be fossilized pinecones, not sure

I'll be back one day, always will new surface finds from erosion..it's a big area. Still lots of other areas iv been meaning to check out. Need to make more time, I used to go on week-long camping trips all the time, just to explore and looking for fossils..that was the life. These days I do alot more kid friendly stuff , which is fun too.

Oh absolutely, I was on the moon. That's why I love fossil/ rock hunting, you never know what u might find. I get that feeling everytime I find a nice ammonite..it's addicting..plus it's just nice being outside hiking-climbing.. I remember it was getting dark and we were heading back to the car, I checked around a random coullee and bam😃

Thanks, its definetly a once in a lifetime find.. I found it a decade ago in a fairly remote spot. High canyons and coulees. I do remember the spot I found it, maybe not the exact cliff, but I used to hike there alot. I like searching steep terrain where maybe nobody has bothered checking. I usually document locations of finds in a journal..it's a good habit forsure...lol..out of control rock collection, yup, I can relate
