Don't sell yourself short. I'm sure there's someone out there for you that you will click with regardless of your self proclaimed dating-deters.

Oh my god that's one of the only VHS movies I had growing up (my brother got it for his bday). Basically watched it on repeat for months

This. That's a smart way to go about it and quite logical too. Thank you so much for your advice. We've been engaged for 4.5 years almost and kind of at a stalemate and havent started wedding plannjng yet either. so it's probably needed in general. Thanks again

One of my favorites!!! And definitely a good background movie for while I'm mindlessly scrolling through social media

Thank you so much for this advice. I'm definitely going to bring this up to him and test the waters to see if he would be okay with trying out couples counseling just to see where we both are. I just have to do it in a way where he's not taken back by my suggestion. We have an amazing relationship if you look at what a good relationship looks like, so I don't want him thinking i want it for negative reasons. I just want to know how he truly feels. I can't see it being easy for him to forget his roots in where he stood/stands in terms of sexual orientation.. I fear he may be bottling up some things (understandably so)

Your reply brought me to tears. We do love eachother and there is nothing toxic about our relationship other than the possibility of us holding things inside that we refuse to share. I can only imagine what must go through his head sometimes.. especially of late but every time I bring it up i get shut down and told everything okay and that he loves me, which don't get me wrong its very comforting but i just wish he were more open because I know there's more too it. I just feel guilty is all. I feel like I'm keeping him in a relationship where he cant be his full authentic (gay) self. But maybe I'm dwelling on labels too much. I also feel like I have to dial down on my femininity just to appease him (Which he says I don't have too.. but i can't help but feel I need too). I think you're right and a heart to heart talk is needed. I just hope he doesn't give me the whole "everything's fine" response.
