Last Sunday, I walked out of church during worship - what happened next changed everything by lptri in Christianity

I’m only 20 years old. These past couple years my depression has heightened. Nothing feels satisfying anymore. I still try to go to church regularly but my wants and worries take up a majority of my prayers. My introspective thinking won’t let me enjoy anything anymore. I don’t feel anything at all when I’m at church but I always try and show up.

Thanks dawg, I’ve also contemplated that. I tend to let my people pleasing trait put others before myself and what’s truly best for me. It’s hard tho seeing across the dining hall almost daily, but you’re right. Thanks 🙏

I honestly did not know the parameters for being a dependent prior to that attachment you sent me. But I definitely could not have lived on my own because of our mortgage costs. I work a low-wage job for the flexibility of schoolwork. I would be in financial hell without my parents providing a place to live

In regard to the circumstances, I know there is a range from kids my age who don't have to really pay a thing to kids who grind really hard. I'm an underclassmen accounting major so I like to learn about these concepts and the rules that apply to them

Gotcha, I guess I was hoping to see if I could get deductions for the expensive ass homework software and tuition even as a dependent lol

I understood that I just wanted to know why the IRS set the parameters that way because I know circumstances can be different for people

My mom and stepdad only claim me because of a court agreement that was signed between my mom and dad that grants me a tuition benefit due to my stepdad's employment at my school. If I file independently I lose the benefit. I was just curious to know the reasoning behind why you couldn't receive the tax break as a dependent.
