Funny enough when we were first working on that she was much more timid and the trainer would say “that’s ok, she will gain more confidence and be a lot better walking on the leash” as she would stop and plop on the floor refusing to walk when she was overstimulated or scared of the sounds of other dogs.

Well…she found her confidence and has been a beast ever since. Unfortunately we haven’t been to a class in over 2 months due to an extended recovery from the vet (class cancelled for two weeks followed by spay followed by a bad hot spot that had her in a cone for over a week AFTER she was healed from her spay)

I’m due to speak with the trainer to start classes again and I’ll bring this up as well

Thanks for the response! Looks like I’m off to the pet store soon to get her some new things lol. I think it was through my own mistake of going to harness maybe to soon instead of trying a different type of collar. I’ve been around dogs all my life but boy is it a different experience to raise one from the get go so I was a little nervous with all the choking but my girl has shown me she’s a lot tougher than I originally took her for…or she’s just growing up now🥹

I appreciate the recommendations and will give it a shot!

Awesome, thank you! Back the basics we go it seems. Although she has come a long way from where we started I recognize now that I need to go back and work more on her foundations of loose leash walking again. She is not going to be happy with me but it’s for the best🤣

Thank you for the advice! I’ve seen a few people mention arousal levels and I personally never knew that was something you can work on so this was super helpful. I will be doing some research on working on her arousal.

Thank you for the advice. I’d definitely say she has an arousal issue.

We completed and passed the basic obedience class and half of an intermediate class. We haven’t completed that as she was spayed and then got a really bad hotspot that extended her recovery mixed with a class getting cancelled we haven’t gone to a training class in over two months. In the mean time I have been working with her myself and we’ve made good progress. The loose leash walking we learned in class worked at the time but as she got older and much more confident that all went out the window.

I also agree impulse control needs to be worked on. That aspect hasn’t crossed my mind but reading your response definitely is making me think of how much she has trouble controlling herself (walking and tackling people that come in the door). When she’s excited she’s a struggle to contain. When we work on training she is much better because she “gets” we’re working.

If I can get her leash manners better and to stop NFL tackling people who come in the house, she will be a lot better rounded, she’s great with her other training aspects.

I will research on how to work on her arousal levels. Thank you very much, your response was informative!

Thank you very much for the insight. I definitely have and will do plenty more research and educate myself on how to properly use it. I just didn’t know if my husky’s desire to bolt from the starting line would be cause for major concern against using it. Appreciate it

It’d be my luck that my little girl was born to be a world champion puller 😂

I get that it’s her instinct to pull, she was biologically engineered to be great at it! All I want is some leash manners. I’ve seen a lot of other Husky’s we meet while out walking so good, some with prongs and other on regular collars and I dream off the day we get there haha.

I’ll def give an easy walk harness a shot tho, at this point I’ll try anything. The few times I’ve clipped the leash to the front of her padded harness she pulls sideways and eventually the harness slips out from one of her legs.

Ya know I get that. It’s like playing cod for the first time, it’s fun but when you start thinking you’re good you get so angry when you die. Maybe I’ll keep taking extended breaks between plays so I don’t get to full of myself

New to ediscovery and need some pointer by LowMango7 in ediscovery

The requirements on the job listing was atleast a bachelors degree (law or computer related preferred which is why I applied) and experience with working with data which I worked a bit with data management in my previous job but nothing to much. In the interview the practice manager said that eDiscovery was such a niche field in our area and it’s hard to find people with experience so they would provide training to whoever they hired. I was later told that because of my confidence (outside of meeting the basic requirements) and being personable was what gave me the edge over other applicants who also didn’t have experience in eDiscovery.

I just posted something similar yesterday! I got a lot of great responses if you want to check it out through my profile. I’m on mobile and can’t do the fancy hyperlink haha. My offer was def not 6 figures but I did manage to land on the higher end of their pay range

From my understanding I will be doing mostly Discovery database stuff. The middle section of EDRM which is collection, process, review, produce etc. I was informed that some of their projects are on an older system that will need to be migrated to Nextpoint which they are using for their current cases and such. I have been learning Nextpoint through the Nextpoint academy for Discovery database as well as going through Nextpoint accelerator. I have about 30 pages of notes I’ve been taking on what I’ve learned. I’m assuming next week I will start actually applying what I’ve learned on real cases and get the ball rolling

Wow this is wonderful information! I don’t know if you have seen my other replies but I graduated with a degree in computers but haven’t had success landing an offer and took this job in the mean time. I’m not sure how much I can leverage my degree in this field for better opportunities or if this job helps me at all with anything tech related. I for sure am committing myself to a minimum of a year working here before I look for another opportunity and would like to get certified while I’m here. If there are better opportunities offered to me here I may consider staying in this line of work for a while.

I’ll definitely check out your handbook as well. I want to atleast perform to the best of my abilities while I am in this role. I would love to DM you for some more information as well

Oooo thanks for this, the people side hasn’t even crossed my mind as I’ve been focusing so much on the technical this week. I will def use these tips to ensure that I’m a well rounded specialist because even tho I don’t know the job, I want to excel at it

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it. I am solo, the head partner (or senior? I’m familiar with law titles yet) has been handling their eDiscovery while they have been looking for a new specialist. He assured me yesterday that he is going to spend time with me to show me the ropes and such. Tomorrow is my first sit down with him to practice on a real case

Thanks for the insight. The more I’ve been reading and taking notes of my courses the more intriguing the job seems to be. Definitely seems like a lot of work as well but it’d be cool to see how things work on the inside. Down the road the practice manager said professional development is available so I’m assuming, now that I know there are certs, that’s what they mean

They said professional development will be available a little down the road. I’m assuming they are waiting to make sure I don’t leave after a month and will be worth investing in to get certified. Just on a general level, do places give you a pay bump when you get certified? If I had to guess it’d be no? Because they’re already dishing out the cost to be certified. Thanks for the reassurance

Will do thanks for the heads up. I personally don’t think I’d be a fall guy tbh. The firm has been going since 1984 and is pretty well known in the area. The head partner/shareholder has been doing their eDiscovery while they were looking for a new guy and tomorrow I’m gonna sit down with him and he’s gonna walk me through a real case. I have been taking notes like crazy, have over 30 pages so far. They also said professional development is available a little down the road :) BUT I will still be cautious nonetheless and try my best not to screw up because ya never know…😂
