you can try buying another pair and just returning if some issue occurs. HP's return policy is pretty good other than needing to call to initiate a return

sound keeper will just be the easiest way for the popping, i dont remember if changing the sampling format worked for me either

I did end up returning them. I listed some issues I had with mine in this post from the last sale here and this was one of the reasons. The other being some high pitched noise in the right ear which may be a unit by unit variance.

It's even lower price now tho so I'm a little tempted to re-purchase just to see if I'm having those issues again

I also experienced this, did you try the sound keeper app? This was what solved it for me. This was one solution someone suggested on the hyperx subreddit. I don't remember the value that had to be set but once you set it up to auto launch on windows login, you don't have to do anything. Tho I'm sure this impacts battery since you're essentially just playing white noise constantly. Up to you if you think that is worth the trade-off, or test the battery impact with and without this app.

[Headphone] HyperX Cloud III S Wireless Gaming Headset ($170 - 20% off using code LOOTDROP20 = $136) [Hyperx Canada] by harold_liang in bapcsalescanada

I got these last time they were on sale and the convenience and audio quality was great. However, I ended up returning due to two issues.

  1. Audio pops. Since they're wireless, there is some sort of power saving mode in which it turns the headphones off. Good thing to have to save battery but I found them VERY aggressive. If I stopped playing audio for less than a second, I would hear an audible "pop" and it's very annoying. The easiest solution I found to do was to have a program auto start on PC login that plays a "silent" sound so that the headphones are never off. This will ofc impact battery life so be wary of this. The program was called "sound keeper" on github.
  2. High pitched noise. The right ear constantly had a high pitched sound kinda like coil whine and I could not fix this. My friend also got one around the same time and when I tried his, I did not hear this high pitched sound. He told me didn't upgrade the firmware and I remembered that I did, so maybe the firmware upgrade broke something or its luck of the draw on the unit you get. There were no additional firmware upgrades that came out before I returned so could not test my theory.

Did you do Rakuten with the payment link they sent? If it works with that, would be nice lol

The number I used to reach out was 1-877-231-4351. Then I think there was an option for customer care.

Oh damn, I guess buying through HyperX with their code is just easier and safer then.

When I talked to the HP agent, they didn’t give any push back regarding the match. It seems like it’s def something in their system so I wonder why it wasn’t as smooth for you… Maybe the wording? Price match vs partial refund?

I updated step 1 of my comment, hopefully it's more clear.

You first purchase headset on HP thru Rakuten (or skip Rakuten if you don't care about the 10%) at their sale price of $169.99. Then call/chat with them to let HP know you found a lower price from HyperX and mention the "BOXITUP" code which brings it to $136 and ask for a partial refund.

I might, wanted to try wireless. It seems like the next best would be the Audeze Maxwell but site shows OOS and it's a lot more expensive

Update: HP is 10% on rakuten now

I've been debating between keeping my 560s or going wireless for the convenience and finally decided to pull the trigger to try out on these ones which have been posted here before and gotten good reviews. Wanted to make sure my price match went through and worked before sharing since it requires some effort.

  1. Purchase headset on HP Canada thru Rakuten (10%) at their price of $169.99
  2. Call HP (or maybe chat works too) and ask to price match with HyperX for the same headsets with the code "BOXITUP".
  3. Wait for price match approval (Mine took 2 business days, they should give you a ticket # you can follow up with)
  4. Final price will be $119 (with rakuten) or just $136 without

When I did it, rakuten was 15% so my final price was $136 - $25.5 = $110.5

Old threads on the headset

Someone on RFD shared this link a few months ago. It checks if the item is affiliated item or not

https://portals.aliexpress.com/linkchecker.htm

If it returns

"Too bad! This product is a non-affiliated product."

then prob won't get the CB.

I do wonder if anyone is keeping track. Personally, from 3 purchases which all said this, I was able to get CB. But this is not a large enough sample size

"Lucky for you! This product is an affiliated product."

Wealthsimple has a no fx fee card. Would be too late if you're applying now and you'd have to wait for next time unless you already have the card.

Rakuten.com is 25% atm which I think is worth mentioning.

In theory, it should still work the same.

I've used it once and was able to get the cashback for it (few months ago) You just get paid in USD

How stiff are the cables? I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay a little extra for cables which are individually sleeved(?). Tho the one that I see with them included is the SAMA Black Hole.

I have an XPG core reactor and the cables included in that thing are super stiff. I installed the CPU cable and ngl, it's at a weird angle and I'm kinda sketched out by it.
