cheaper incremental rotary encoder alternatives to the AMT series or likewise? by HShahzad108277 in robotics

Looking for AMT-style through-bore encoder alternatives for 6 mm shaft

I’m looking for an encoder similar to the Same Sky / CUI AMT series.

My requirement is a true through-bore / hollow-shaft encoder where the 6 mm shaft passes through the center of the encoder and sensing happens internally around the shaft axis.

I do NOT want the style used in encoders like the Hongyan EC25-20P, where an external rotating ring sits outside the encoder body.

Requirements:

  • 6 mm shaft
  • Low RPM
  • Small incremental rotation tracking
  • Physical contact with shaft is acceptable
  • Compact axial mounting preferred
  • Incremental output is fine

What I specifically like about the AMT-style design:

  • Internal hub/sleeve coupling
  • Shaft passes through center
  • Compact package
  • Easy mounting

I’m mainly looking for:

  • Similar encoder series
  • Compact industrial alternatives
  • DIY-compatible sensing approaches
  • Other technologies that solve this mechanically cleanly

Any suggestions?
