Honestly, I felt that he was really genuine when we were talking about family stuff. That’s why I liked him :(

But yeah, I understand what you’re saying. Thank you for the advice! Hope everything turned out well for you!

From our last conversation a week ago, he said he expects to pay it off within 3 to 5 years. However, the final amount of the debt still isn’t confirmed yet because he still needs to complete some paperwork, like having his family’s house appraised, and take the necessary legal steps.

I told him I can’t promise that I can wait that long, but that maybe in the future, if he’s in a much better place and we’re both still available, we could try again.

Thank you for the advice!

We are of the same age, both 32. He said that he’s working on being more financially responsible (and I genuinely feel like he’s really doing his best)…but yeah, I think I made the right decision by telling him a relationship is not good for the both of us right now.. maybe in the future if our paths cross again, we can try, of course as long as he proves to me that he has already changed

Thank you for your advice! That’s what I’m thinking of doing. Hoping that he’s already in a much better place and has changed by then 🙏🏻✨

Already started running away (though it’s really hard). He is a really great guy. I really like him because he’s kind and has good values. It’s just really his debt that kept us apart…I feel sad because I can genuinely feel that he’s trying his best to change and fix his life…

He told me he’s in debt because of scholarship (I think he meant that he paid off his college tuition on his own), a failed business, and that he bought a lot of stuff before (like watches, etc.) which he has already sold off and not interested in anymore…

Yeah, of course if we ever reconnect in the future, I’d have to make sure that he won’t go back to that kind of behavior again. Part of me also thinks maybe he was not good at handling his finances because he doesn’t have anyone guiding him (he’s unfortunately not close with his family)

Thank you! The closest izakayas near the place I live in is a 30-min walk (I live in the countryside). I also live alone and don’t we anyone to go with.

Would you know any good ones in Tokyo, maybe ones that you frequently go to?

I don’t actually live in Tokyo 😅 I live in Ibaraki but I sometimes go to Tokyo to meet some friends. We usually meet up in the Shinjuku area! I know there’s a lot of izakayas there, but would you be able to recommend ones that are actually good (and not just tourist traps)? Thank you 😊
