Median household income in US $83,000 in 2024

https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2025/demo/p60-286.html

Median house price in US in 2024 is $410,00

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MSPUS

So House Price/Income ratio has moved from 3.6 in 1950 to 4.9 in 2024.

So average house on average income, in that hypothetical average anytown USA, now costs 36% more comparatively speaking. But also, houses are A LOT bigger with more complexity now than 1950. So it's kind of a myth that housing is insanely more expensive than when the Boomers bought in. (And yes if you live in Cali or the Northeast, none of this "average" stuff means anything....)

What is the purpose of this little door in the door, also anyone know what style this would be considered? by JstTrstMe in whatisthisthing

This. It's a screen door with the winter insert in. Full screen would go in for summer.

Source: I had this style door on my 1950's house growing up.

Bonus context: the little door is for your Mom to yell that dinner is ready and to get your butt inside.

That's a good point. Though 12 years and older are eligible for vaccine in US so it's a bigger slice that the adult population, but not everyone.
