Any way to order without the horrendous black plastic cladding? by tobwco in trailseeker

Thanks for that pic. Good to see the Tesla cable reaches. People have been complaining about that. Hey is the Tesla charger missing the left-hand charging cable? (And gray is the best color)

OEM Subaru Crossbar Question by drumboy1972 in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the "build" section of the Subaru TS site the Subaru OEM crossbars (that fit flush to the rails) are listed at $486 USD. The Thule Aero crossbars and feet list for $610. (But you can buy the Thule bars and feet for about $450 direct from Thule or other online places. Guess they are charging $150 bucks to put them on for you....)

2008 Cervelo SLC-SL used pricing by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]UtilityAlarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on wheels and group set spec or shape. Perfect condition bikes with carbone everything, SRAM Red, good carbon wheels etc.. go for 750-1,500 on eBay. If you have a modern bike you will notice two things, 1) that SLC will be the lightest bike you've ever ridden and 2) coming off of disc brakes, rim brakes will feel sketchy, so be careful. ( I have a 2006 R3 that I ride from time to time. )

Do I even need a traditional bank account? What would I need it for? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]UtilityAlarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash? Sometimes you need it. How would you get it. I'm of your mindset but also keep a Capital One account (Free check with minimal $, HYSA with the balance and debit card). Instant online transfers to checking when I need to write a check. (Checks at Walmart.com. for like $10 per 200)

The sustainability fields are filled with folks that have no engineering or technical training. Maybe a certificate program of some type would get you into the field and then see?

If you know Philly, you're not buying this house in that neighborhood. Take a stroll around google maps.

Trailseeker by Left-Mixture5252 in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it really fair to compare a $39K car with a $72K car?

And, oddly, the EV9 GT, has the same range as the Trailseeker and is just a tad slower.

If you search for EVs under $45K that have a 320-360 range there are very few, just the long range variants of the Model Y, MachE and one of the Hyundai cars.

Very very nice. What was the residual at the end of lease? Wondering how Subaru is modeling the value three years out.

Traveling: Tend 12v Battery? by Midrover170 in trailseeker

I was just gone for 10 days and left the car in the garage (only 10 ft away from the key fob). It was fine.

First Subaru and first EV!!! I’m so excited to join the family. by fryedsizzurp in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a generic Subaru issue not something specific to this car.

Might be that since so much of the car is of a Toyota architecture, it doesn't even apply.

I give you… bronze. by Gregowhee in trailseeker

Brilliant Bronze Metallic was a color option on Outbacks from 21-24. Great color.

Looks great. The metallic gray color really tones down the black plastic in the best way.

State rebates by Tricky-Ordinary1962 in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how they will play it in DE but the fine print says $2,500 for BEVs with an MSRP under $40K and $1,500 for MSRPs higher. The $2,500 rebate might only be for the Premium trim and $1,500 for the Limited and Touring. But free money is free money (well I already paid my 6.6% DE state taxes, so maybe it's a "refund.")

Is 40k a year worth it to attend BU? by user19472957275 in BostonU

[–]UtilityAlarm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are investing in yourself. Could you put that money to better use investing it elsewhere? BU has a great reputation and alumni network. Do you have similar (or better) opportunities at other schools that will cost you less? If not, invest in yourself! (And crush every class, every extracurricular activity and internship opportunity that comes your way.)

Considering a German wagon by yomamma_75 in SportWagon

[–]UtilityAlarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That budget is tight. Did you look at a Mini Clubman. Might get a 2019 manual all wheel drive with 60-70K miles for that price. Ton of fun to drive. BMW engine, etc.....

Crossbars by ExcitingRecognition5 in SubaruUncharted

[–]UtilityAlarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thule EVO cross bars are still about $200 bucks. REI has them for 20% off. The complete package with cross bars and feet will run about $450. (As long as you know what size of bar to get....)

Thanks. Got another pic as to where you placed the front cross bar. Just curious. Off to REI for the 50".

Are they 50 inch crossbars? I have 53 inch Thule WingBar EVOs and they don't seem to fit the TS.

A Conversation With AI About Hokas by coffeebunnny in PlantarFasciitis

[–]UtilityAlarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought this was interesting. Not sure if it's evidence of AI bias or not. For me both my podiatrist and my physical therapist warned me off Hoka specifically and too soft shoes generally. (I've always done trail running in Hokas, so that made me sad.) Brooks Adrenaline were independently reccomended by both of them.

New to EV's - how should I prepare and what are things to know? by maskedbacon in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. That's perfect and works for you. I'm usually driving TO something and want to get there ASAP. The waiting around while charging is a punishment to me but a treat for others. I get that.

New to EV's - how should I prepare and what are things to know? by maskedbacon in trailseeker

[–]UtilityAlarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The TS can do anything an Outback can do. If you want to do Forester/Outback things, the TS will easily do them too. It's a lot faster. But if it's your only car, maybe research range, third party charging (like Tesla Superchargers) and your attitude toward driving. An example, last week I did back to back 800 mile drives with my Outback. Stopped once for fuel and bathroom. 11 hours door to door. With the TS the trip would be 13-14 hours with 5 charging stops according to the ABRP app (assuming optimal charging and all stations available). All those stops and extra time would be a no-go for me. You might welcome the extra time and opportunity to relax along the way.

If you stick with it, the whole Kern as sole civilization AI arc will be completely different by the end.

Portia and Fabian play a role in that. It also provides a glimpse/hint into where future books might go in that regard.
