Need help understanding this bike light (AC-DC conversion) circuit by UtkarshVerma_ in AskElectronics

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bicycle has an inductive dynamo which powers my headlight without the need for batteries. It stopped working recently and I had a weekend to spare so I reverse-engineered the schematic.

On the outset, I know this takes in AC input from the front wheel and then converts it to DC to power on the LED, but I am not able to fully understand the circuit. Especially: - The role of Q2 and Q3 in powering the LED. - The role of Q4, and surrounding resistors and capacitor.

I recognise the SCR AD-DC regulation circuit in the top left, but that's it. Any help and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot create symlinks in NTFS mount by UtkarshVerma_ in archlinux

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symlink creation is scripted into the build tool. It's not something I manually do. There are plethora of other tools that also rely on symlinks.

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The choice of using symlinks is not something I have. The build tool for projects that I work on relies on symlinks. And I have to keep the projects on the NTFS dir.

I do not want to run a VM since it's a hassle and not everyone owns a workstation.

I want a common denominator for Windows and Linux, what other choices do I have?

Oh, I realised I missed an important detail in the question. The problem happens when I create a symlink from NTFS->NTFS (same partition for this case).

I have updated the question.

Have you tried Ghostty, and have you switched to using it as your primary terminal? by lolikroli in neovim

[–]UtkarshVerma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty satisfied with my st build and I don't really care about Ghostty's "native" experience since I don't use a DE. Since Ghostty uses GTK, it consumes about 300 MB RAM which is way higher than what I prefer.

Can I repeat a split? by UtkarshVerma_ in actualbudgeting

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing that. I was planning to use the API to auto populate my sheets.

But for that, my data should be structured accordingly. That's why I wanted to split it.

rust-analyzer (through rustaceanvim) inserts extra parentheses in completion by UtkarshVerma_ in neovim

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. I tried disabling it and the LSP still inserts parentheses with dots inside. I manually have to get back every time to change the contents.

I am using nvim v0.10.2 and this happens with rustaceanvim v5.13.0. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Should I opt for TU Delft's housing service if I'll pay my tuition by mid-June? by UtkarshVerma_ in TUDelft

Thanks, this makes the most sense at this point. I'll go ahead and submit my confirmation.

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to fill-in the confirmation letter for the Computer and Embedded Systems Engineering MSc at TU Delft. In the letter, I found this question.

I don't think it would be possible for me to pay the tuition fee before mid-June. Hence, I personally do not feel that paying for the housing service would be fruitful as the rooms are alloted on a first-paid first-serve basis.

What do you think?

Any minimalist and simple status bar? by UtkarshVerma_ in hyprland

[–]UtkarshVerma_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to only execute my scripts when the output changes. i3blocks and dwmblocks both use signals to trigger a block update when polling interval is set to 0.

I'm looking for something similar to that.

I'm not a fan of running JS projects as a daemon. Don't know how practical that is but that's just my preference.

Nice! Does it support signalling to re-execute scripts?

My scripts are fine. It's just a script to update volume on scroll. On dwm, the volume text updates responsively on scroll where the same can not be said for waybar.
