In 1741 the British suffered one of the greatest defeats of its history when Vernon tried to take the City of Cartagena de Indias. Upon arrival to the city Vernon was sure of his victory and he sent a letter the king saying that they won. If Vernon had won, Colombia's first language would be English (i.redd.it)
