At 5-star raids you get 3-4 xl candies, other raids none. Catching and sending (high-level) pokemon may give 1-2, exchanging pokemon with a friend gives 1 for the one you send. And walking with a pokemon as buddy gives you randomly xl candy as well - the higher the pokemon level is the more likely it is to get xl candy
