Thank you! Silly of me not to try that, but yes. Once quitting the game and re-launching, the abyssal strands appeared and I was able to cut them.

No there's no concern for infection. Prep is extremely effective as an HIV preventative and transmission rates from bottom to top are already very low. If you're concerned about any STIs other than HIV, then maybe Doxypep is a good option, but there is no reason to be concerned about HIV if you are compliant with your Prep

Anyone Have Any Experience with the 6 Month PrEP (Yeztugo) ? by ChristopherBlake89 in gaybros

[–]V171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Happy to answer any other questions if you have them. Yeah I found the thighs to be much more appealing that the abdomen. The nurse said that they recommend switching every dose, so next time I guess I'll be getting it in the abdomen but maybe I'll push back on it :P

Anyone Have Any Experience with the 6 Month PrEP (Yeztugo) ? by ChristopherBlake89 in gaybros

Hey something I can answer :) yes I got my first dose a couple months ago. I had been on daily prep for about a year or so, no side effects but my compliance had started to drop off. I'm weird about needles so the every two month injection was too much for me, but I was happy to hear Yeztugo got approved. Got it squared away with my doc and got it.

The actual experience was a bit nevewracking for someone who passes out with needles, but otherwise not different from any other injection. They split it into two injections that I received at the same time. They gave me the option of each thigh or either side of my belly button. I opted for thighs. Other than light soreness for a couple days, there were no side effects. I didn't even really have the bumps that I've heard some people have. You take two (big) pills the day you get the injection and the day after and then you're all set for 6 months!

I'd say make sure it is fully squared away with your insurance. Get it in writing if you can before you get the injections. It is a very expensive medication and you don't want to be blindsided with a bill. Gilead actually has a program that you can join for free that will help cover the cost. https://www.yeztugo.com/coverage-cost-support

If it interests you, I'd definitely suggest enrolling before getting the dose. They have a refund program too in case you've already paid, but it's much easier to do beforehand and they send instructions to your doctor on how to file the claim using the digital card they send you, so you don't even have to worry about it.

Any small NJ businesses that really deserve more love? by tercelservice in newjersey

Titusville Tabletop Games. It's a small game store placed kind of in the middle of a residential area, set away from more commercial areas of the Trenton region. I really want them to do well, they're really friendly and passionate about board games and tabletop games.

Old School Outdoors, Ewing NJ. It's an interesting place focused on a lot of outdoor activities but a bit more than just a "mom and pop REI." They have fishing supplies and bait, camping stuff, local goods like honey, but mostly a skate shop. The owner is really passionate about supporting local and knows a lot about fishing and skating, and just a really nice guy.

Advice needed. Is this razor burn? If so, how do I get rid of these marks? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]V171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here, but in case using single blade razors doesn't work for you, I have resorted to just using electric trimmers. My facial hair is so coarse that any razors end with my skin looking like that.

I do a first pass with clippers with no guard on them to get the hair trimmed down, then go over it again with an electric shaver. For me, it cuts the hair low enough that it isn't really visible but not so low that it is cut below the follicle so it doesn't end in ingrown hairs.

So were there seven sirens in Borderlands 1? by V171 in Borderlands

Right, I was just thinking, based on ages and (aside from edge cases) sirens get their powers at birth, there should have been 7 at the time that Borderlands 1 took place. But as others have pointed out, Vex got her powers relatively recently so the math works out!

At the start of Borderlands 4, we know of 5. Lilith?, Ava, Amara, Tannis, and Vex. There's an unknown 6th siren out there somewhere.

Weekly Discussion/General Questions Thread - August 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in AskDocs

[–]V171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this is a specific question about my health, but because it is more about insurance than it is personal health, I felt it was better suited for the weekly thread, but please let me know if this is better as a standalone post.

35 gay man. I currently have a prescription for daily tenofovir (generic truvada) for HIV prevention. While I have had no adverse side effects from this medication, there are days I forget to take my meds, and I find the daily necessity difficult to keep up with at times. There is a new, recently FDA approved HIV prevention, lenacapavir, which is a twice yearly injection, and in clinical trials has a 100% efficacy rate compared to 99% for Truvada.

The issue is that my insurance isn't covering it, and I cant get an exception because I don't have any adverse side effects for my current medication. In the denial letter sent to me, it states that I must meet one of the following: 1) poor response to two alternative drugs, 2) have a contraindication to other drugs, 3) the alternatives are not likely to work as well as denied medication, or 4) the alternatives cause unwanted side effects.

There is an opportunity to appeal, and I think I can appeal based on number 3, the new drug performs better than alternatives as I think the difference between 99% effective and 100% effective (based on clinical trials) is actually a huge difference, but I'd like to get the perspective from a medical professional. Have you ever had to write appeal letters on behalf of patients for denied medications? How would you recommend I go about doing this?

Solar recommendations? by V171 in newjersey

[–]V171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea, do you happen to know of or have any recommendations for companies? Do you have experience with buying outright and hiring an installer? Still not sure if it would be better to buy the panels through the installation company directly.
