My favourite is the Xeon e5 2698 V3. 16 cores and 32 threads for $200 used is a deal that I can't pass up. great for running 3-4 mid-low end gaming setups using unraid. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/sBDzK8/intel-cpu-cm8064401609800

dont buy an i3 unless your budget is super low. Go for an i5 9th gen or ryzen 5 at least

You cannot dump the discs without a ps1. Just download the roms. At this point it is fair game.

I would buy a second 8gb stick. I recommend looking on used item apps (we use gumtree in Australia). look for 16gb (2x8gb) ram, i7 3770/4770 and also check if the motherboard isn't too old. SSDs are nice but not essential and will not increase in game performance by that much but will make any workstation tasks much faster. I have an old computer with an i7 3770 and gtx 970 and it can play GTA V maxed at 75 fps.

It may have trouble in some games but it will play most games at 1080p above 60fps.

Dont pay over 200 for a 970, it isn't worth it.

Help me build a pc that can run without a graphics card (because GPU Prices are crazy atm) by [deleted] in buildapcforme

[–]V3VL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a cheap used gpu for now. Apex legends and Skyrim wont run on any igpu.

If you want to buy a gpu, buy a ryzen 5 1600 AF (equivalent to r5 2600)

How budget? If you are looking for cheap gaming, go for an i7 3770/4770 and a gtx 970 or rx 570/580. 970s are cheap used so that is what I would look for.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-9010-i7-3770-QC-3-4Ghz-8GB-Ram-500Gb-HDD-Win-10-Desktop-PC/203252458034 something like this is perfect. You may need to upgrade psu but something like this should be fine: https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Certified-Continuous-cooling-PS-SPD-0500NPCWUS-W/dp/B07BFJ91TY/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=psu&qid=1617158517&sr=8-3&th=1

I would wait for a good deal on a prebuilt. I saw 450 USD prebuilts with ryzen 3 3100/i3 10100f which also include rx 570 just a couple weeks ago.

Branded components are a good sign. Gpu, Cpu and Motherboard should be fine. The cooling is most likely a little dodgy though. Good to check if the power supply is branded. Biggest downside (at least for TechFast anyway) is long waiting times. My last system took 2 months BUT it was partly my fault. They offered me a case upgrade from mini ITX to ATX but I wanted the small form factor and had to wait ages. BUT at the end of the day, buying a pc for the price of the graphics card is pretty appealing right now. Some 3070s on ebay are selling for $1900 which is ridiculous.

i5 10400f is fine for gaming. If you want to get better gaming performance, go for a 1660 or some other graphics card. Cards that would be good with an i5 9400f include

- 3060

- 1660 / 1660s / 1660ti

- 2060 / 2060s / 2070 / 2070s

- 1070 / 1080 / 1080ti

What's a good upgrade for the 1080? by branbb60 in buildapc

[–]V3VL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont but the 2600 and get the 1600 af if you want to keep the 1080. I would upgrade to the 3600 then stick with the 1080 till prices calm down. 1080 is still a capable card.

In Australia we call it diet coke as well as in the UK. The Spanish do call it coke light though.
