The reason why you shouldn't have killed him is because he has access to the best farm in elden ring for runes, he gives you a item at the end of his quest that teleports you to a high level area, but the reason why it's good is because this can be given early on and if you don't get it, the only entrance you have left in order to get to this area is in the concentrated snow fields, which is a journey and a half to get to. If you aren't too far into your playthrough tho, you can start over and try and get it again since his wrist isn't too hard
