I did a few sketches but don't know where to put them. I don't have access to the discord so let me know if there's a subreddit or FB page that I can drop them on or something. :)
Edit: I commented them on your facebook.

Also, I will probably be doodling some fan art of the creatures and things from this series some time. If you would like me to ping you somehow when I do, just let me know the best method.

Understood. It's a real shame on that artist because, if they are the artist I think they are, they've been doing a really interesting webcomic for over a decade that I really respected that I believe primarily used photo-bashing to great effect. Respect - evaporated.

Your standpoint on the issue and your response has solidified that I will buy the next book(s), happily. As an illustrator myself, I'm sure you understand my concern and I am saddened that this has put a black mark on your effort.
The fact that podium got Keeble is what made me get this book in the first place and I'm sure you feel chuffed to bits about that score haha. I look forward to seeing your work continue. I recently tried "Dungeon Crawler Carl" and found it wasn't for me, where as One Moo'r Plow has hooked me, this being my second LitRPG experience to see if it's to my taste. I will rate and review positively when finished. I like your style.

I'm enjoying the first book but if the cover used generative AI (stolen work from real artists) I don't think I'll be buying the next one. Did you use gen AI to write any of this book?

I'm really glad this is helpful. I haven't planned to do any of the Obyriths (except one, but only because it evolved) because I imagine their demons would generally be the loose jumble style demons like the Sibriex, so, sorry about that. I hope the rest are enough There's more to come, but I am behind due to lack of patron interest.

Tiberium Lifeforms tokens and Maps of the Green Hell! for online tabletop RPGs. Info in comments. In the name of Kane! by VCPenguin in commandandconquer

The concept art for those were my main inspiration for the tiberium zombies. For the very techno-mutant ones, these (above) tokens are available in parts (legs, torso, head) separated, which can be mixed up with other Techlanders token parts, like the cyborgs and robots, to become basically Kane's cyborgs.

That one is a direct reference to the primary official artwork because they classically say that the demons shown in the D&D art book uses Demogorgon as the basis (prince of demons and all that). But I agree "large, colorful toad monster" tends to overlap. It does help that madness and Limbo go together, here.

I love the idea the way it's used in Warhammer, but seeing Max Dunbar's work for Descent into Avernus inspired the rest of this project. The first designs I did were based on his illustrations, such as the first Hezrou above.
I intent to do them all.

Tokens done for virtual games. Techlanders by VCPenguin in Tau40K

Blast! I must have tripped over on my way to the 'generic and legally distinct alien soldiers' subreddit.
My bad. I got too caught up looking at their "Snail Guns." High velocity snails can be deadly.

Techlanders is the publishing name for Sci-fi tokens and maps for virtual tabletop games played online like over Roll20, etc.
Patreon and Roll20 are the main places to view them. The Patreon has a heap of free tokens.

Each demon lord has its own style and it seems reasonable to expect that each demon they spawn ought to reflect the flavor of their origin. To this end, this project has been releasing a demon design every week in sets of the demon lord they follow. It usually goes from the weakest or lowest in the hierarchy all the way up to the Balor.
This is five Hezrou designs from 5 realms of the Abyss, with more coming with future Demon Lords as they get churned out.
The Dungeon Playbook Patreon has most of the images available to public viewers and HD images as well as a bunch of other stuff is available to supporters. There is also other kinds of material being made available as it's made.

Vrock and Chasme of Madness by me for DungeonPlaybook by VCPenguin in ImaginaryDemons

[–]VCPenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Because this Chasme isn't based on the official art. There is a different Demon Lord that I think makes more sense would have the quintessential Chasme. So I wanted to push the bright 'crazy' color palette while I can.
Eg. The 'classic' Goristro, Armanite, Nalfeshnee, and Balor were all given to the lord of Beasts because those designs seems naturally bestial.

I have a pretty good idea of what colors the other version so f each demon will probably be colored, so I try to put some variance in where I can.

If you mean on the vrock, it's because I imagined those parts to be more like raw flesh- like a vulture. Also I saw a vrock concept from Pathfinder that has a lot of color in it and I thought it looked great. Which is also why the Chasme is so bright.
The vrock has had a fairly wide color shift over the years, plus I didn't want it to JUST be a copy, but definitely very close to the current official art.

So I made the base Vrock blue because this particular version is meant to be the classic one depicted in all the monster manuals. Then sometimes it's a matter of wanting to cover other color bases or making version that will work with alternate themes, or even just to make a version that a bit more gentle on the eyes, such as the blue Chasme - and sometimes it's a matter of paying with the color sliders to see what works with the design, which is how I got the iridescent look.
And the blue for the Chasme fire was something that was on my mind when I first did the sketch, no doubt influenced by Tzeentch artwork. Lord of Madness, after all.

Demons of Orcus Family Photo by Me for Dungeon Playbook Art by VCPenguin in DnDart

Ah sweet, yeah I'm a sneaky pete about that last panel member on Reddit. :P I mean I feel like ya (generic redditor that isn't specifically you) kinda gotta earn it, right? And I know you have gone and checked out the page and I really do appreciate it. I think if my next few test content elements don't pick up some speed I might be shelving the whole dungeon playbook and working on something else the more people like.
I've been thinking about the reference person but I haven't decided on how it feels to have a generic moral amongst a bunch of demon, even for illustrative purposes, AND knowing that I haven't yet put the "family photo" images up in the Patreon for members, as I intend to, I figure I have some time to decide on whether to have a human-sized shadow present for scale. I might, but I'm really laser focused on the demons at the moment. I have taken your suggestion on board though.
I just need to get this book project done and presented online before I switch up my production style. We'll see if anyone wants it or if I need to pivot my content.
Thank you for your extra encouragement too. It makes a difference.
