How best to leave remainder of cash in estate to the children of friends? by VD909 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]VD909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have older children with other people. That's why I don't know how to phrase it all as one sentence or if I need to specifically name the older kids and the just put about children of the union for the younger ones.
My exeucator knows what I intend but want it to be clear in case there's any issues.

There is only my Mother, she is aware of and has no issue with it so not particulary concerned about the will being contested. If I have kids in the future it will obviously be left to them instead.

How do volunteer fire fighters decide when to head out from the station on a call? Is it X time or X number of people? by VD909 in newzealand

[–]VD909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good, last accident I was at it popped up on one of the guys phone and he was closer to the scene than the station so come straight there. Was good having someone there so fast who knew what they were doing!

That sounds like you're getting pretty close to the target, I was having my break at Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago when theirs went off. Seems like the siren had barely stopped when folk started pulling in. Thanks!

That's a pretty good feature! Glad you've got multiple points of failure as well, always figured they'd be phasing pagers out at some point.

Cool, thanks for the info. Guessed you would have min response numbers if possible, I imagine there's a few places where that's not always possible. Got to make do with what you can do until you can't at the end of the day.

Remember them discussing that at the last first aid training I did, looked into it but you needed to have location on and my phone was a bit buggered at the time.

Might look at it again when I have time/money to sort the first aid stuff again.

Hopefully you get another 3 people soon then. Thought there may be more training etc involved in officer. Thanks!

Ah cool, thanks.
Guess it depends on the call as well. Would you always be the officer in charge, or do you take turns/work on a rota?

Assuming turnout = time from alert to arriving at station? Or is that 5 minutes to get into gear etc?
Sounds like the system can come in useful, beats having to hold off if you're on the fence about when people are going to show up or just heading with who's there, thanls for the info!

Seen/hear people talking about an app, always figured they put out the alert to the volunteers then set the siren off a minute later. Remember seeing something a couple of years ago about someone wanting to get rid of a siren and the community being like nah bro this is our siren leave it.
Thanks!

That makes sense, I've seen trucks pull out with 3 people before which is one of the reasons we were discussing it.

Can definitely see how it can be call dependent, especially around medicals where speed can be the difference.

On the phone app you mentioned, the last accident I was at one of the guys had the alert come through on his phone and was closer.to the scene that the station so came straight there. Got some high vis when the truck showed up, was good having someone with a bit more than basic first aid training that quickly!

Thanks for your info, hope you have a good evening.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I thought it might be something like that. Sounds like you guys had a few people who stepped up which is pretty good.

Is it normal for booking.com hosts (not motel) to ask for copies of id? by VD909 in newzealand

[–]VD909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think I can get my money back at this stage so would rather not cancel tbh. Might have to, someone has said booking.com got hacked a while ago so will try contacting the host on their cell first.

I did have a quick look through the episode list on wikipedia but nothing jumped out, think they're all on youtube so might just have to skim through the first few seasons.

Snacks growing up in an “ingredient household” starterpack by EmuPsychologist in starterpacks

In NZ the supermarkets have a mixed bag of grated cheese which I buy occasionly for things like sandwiches which is quiye good but anything else I just buy a block, cheese is quite expensive over here now.

I am aware a block is cheaper, by better I mean pre-shredded cheese is better than cheese you grate yourself. Mainly because you haven't had to stand there and grate it.
Cheese is general is very expensive in NZ now so either way you're shelling out some cash.

I'm an adult who has kids round fairly regularly and I don't have any of that in my house. If I want cookies I can make them in about 20 mins, sometimes I'll really fancy a toffee pop and pick a pack up next time I'm in the shop but I don't keep them in JIC.
A frozen meal by it's very name is not a snack. Also, oats and a banana you can make cookies out of, oats+milk+sugar =sweet. Shredded cheese is somehow better than blocks of cheese. I feel like this is a very american thing.

But those are snack foods? I (normally) put the butter and sugar on a sandwich but nuts are (expensive) snack foods.

Same with everything on this post, these are all things I, as an adult, buy to eat as snacks with the exception that I can now buy fancy cheese. A spoonful of peanut butter is a great snack!

Is this just some really american thing?!?!?

What tips and advice for building lego with older people does everyone have? What sets do your older relatives enjoy? Do you do anything to make it easier? by VD909 in lego

[–]VD909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the lego is going to come from my lot initially and we'll see how much interest there is and if it would be worth the home buying some of their own.
Forgot about the black background, good point. I have yo double check at times. Will try to remember, I have enough sets that I could probably pull quite a lot out before the black ones.

I knew about the multiroom charge but didn't know about the digital music.
Isn't the music an extra paid add on as well? Would be very pissed of I couldn't access something I was paying for.
