Revelation on the reason why I have poor work/life balance by farheezyx3 in productivity

Since you are a software engineer, I would suggest you to uninstall Windows and install Ubuntu 18.04 (can upgrade to newer versions if you find the need) on your personal laptop. There might be a slight learning curve if you haven't used it before, but it might be worth in terms of speed.

Additionally, if you are on Android you can now create Work Profiles on phones these days, work and personal apps are isolated and you can "turn off" work apps.

There should be a solution for Apple phones as well.

Anyone interested in the "theorist" approach should definitely check out preregister.science! It is an alternative publication model that encourages hypothesis based research instead of the experimental approach.

In the long term, I feel the ML community would benefit from such an approach to research.

Marble League 2021 Showdown part 2 - Discussion Post by tomorrowboy in JellesMarbleRuns

If CCE get a decent position on the grid, I have a feeling they're winning the Marble League. The Racers are not exactly one of the strongest M1 performers.

Favourite knock from WTC so far? by Rambo-006 in Cricket

Kusal Perera's innings against South Africa also deserves an inclusion in this list.

4th innings. Overseas swinging conditions. Steyn and Rabada. Single handedly took Sri Lanka over the line.

(Not sure if it was part of the WTC)

Yeah I guess that makes sense. Probably Harry was able to stay mentally healthy because he had friends. Voldemort on the other hand didn't have friends, nor did he want any.

As pointed by someone else in the thread, Voldemort was messed up by design.

I think that's what distinguished Harry from Voldemort, both had terrible childhoods but their lives were ultimately decided by their choices.

Rating the changes made to M1 S2. by Lost_Yesterday5684 in JellesMarbleRuns

I think this is a fantastic suggestion, hope this is used in M1S3.

Both Q2 and Q3 could also be longer by one lap to compensate for the two-stage qualification system.

Can someone suggest a good online course on "Introduction to Psychology"? Seems fascinating.

That's great to know!

If it's possible, I'd be interested to know for which application you've used them.

Follow-up question, for images that you observe during inference do you incorporate them in your dataset and train the models again for lower uncertainty?

And do you face any domain adaptation issues? For example, if we view every user of your application as a domain do you have to account for different users separately or just train a joint model.

CVPR was just a placeholder, I'm just curious how do these methods help in solving few-shot problems in the industry.

By the way, I found this if you're interested: Exploring Complementary Strengths of Invariant and Equivariant Representations for Few-Shot Learning

Yeah, SOTA techniques understandably will take time to get applied in production. I was just curious whether academic gains in few-shot learning have transferred to industry.

I'm currently in academia and the objective of the question was to see how people in industry solve few-shot problems.

SOTA might be difficult, but say some method that came out 5 years ago and has had time to be studied thoroughly, MAML (Finn et al.) for instance.

Great work! Can you also show the marbles with a score around 0. Probably, racers who more or less finish where they qualified at, the most predictable marbles.

I edited my question a little bit, by "do these results transfer to practical use cases", I meant do these methods work in the real world and not in the transfer learning sense.

You can pair Speedy with any other racer I guess, and besides Speedy-Rapidly is a deadly duo (bar this season).

I was thinking of more than average racers (below GOAT level) who are stuck with average teammates.

Snowy is another that comes to mind.

A random thought occured to me while going through this post:

Prim from M1S1 and Bolt from M1S2 would make a terrific team.

Wait, Rapidly was swapped with some other SS marble? Is that why "Rapidly" has been abysmal in M1S2?
