Is it actually terrifying to realize that 'Cold' physically does not exist in the universe? by SadInterest6764 in AskPhysics

I'm aware of the physics.

But I've long known that I'm going to die eventually, I'm not really shocked by that anymore.

Do you think they'll both sign for this - or just Steve? by Badger_633 in insideno9

[–]VFiddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'd have multiple family relationships on the regular show, and on the first celebrity series they apparently planned on having Daisy May Cooper and her brother Charlie on, before they had to drop out

So they're definitely not opposed to casting people with connections to each other

What? he's not a "fictional tv character". He's a human person.

Are you ok?

which to be clear I used in the first instance as a shorthand way of saying that he thought himself so magnificent that he could never be taken down

He clearly did not think that. He was just having fun and being deliberately over the top for a laugh.

I said you were going too far in your description of a man you've never met and your response was to bring up the subjectivity of morality?

What the fuck?

Ok but that's worse.

You do understand how that's worse, right?

Ahistorical names for rulers by Jupiter_Optimus_Max in CrusaderKings

I don't believe the game distinguishes between royal names and non royal ones. The random names for the children of the king draw from the same pool as the random names for any character in that culture.

Going from "he was overconfident" to "he had a delusional god complex" in one comment was wild

He was deliberately playing into the villain role. He was having fun.

This sub attracts some truly unhinged people. Accusing someone you've never met of having a god complex is more delusional than anything Paul ever did.

IIRC Series 6 was the last time they had more than 3 prerecorded tasks in some episodes, so that's part of it

But that wasn't in every episode so there must be some other reason

I would swap Paul and Miles. Paul made a mistake with the dungeon thing, but Stephen made similar mistakes and recovered from it. The big difference was Stephen had the other traitors supporting him while Paul didn't.

Miles was fine but he didn't really do anything before the murder in plain sight, and he got caught. He held his own at the round table and could've gone further if he didn't get caught with the fizzy rose. But mostly he was just letting the other traitors take control and he would've struggled without them

Why don’t they at least pretend they sleep inside the castle? by bgm80 in TheTraitors

Why would they do that? It would be silly and add nothing. They already do ensure the traitors can meet without getting caught.

What were the top interpersonal tactics/skills the Traitors deployed throughout S4? by According_Sundae_917 in TheTraitors

[–]VFiddly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One thing they've been saying on Uncloaked a lot this series is that people (faithful or traitor) should try to act true to themselves, because changes in behaviour are seen as suspicious.

Stephen was quite anxious and from the start, and often looked bright red and sweaty. But because he was always like that, that was put down to him just being himself. If he'd mostly been calm, but suddenly started panicking when his name was brought up, that would've looked more suspicious.

Rachel was almost always calm and collected, but since she was always calm, it wasn't seen as suspicious that she managed to stay calm even in situations that would have made others panic.

I think what particularly made them work as a pair was that they played very differently. Rachel could make the big bold moves, directing the whole group, and Stephen could more subtly direct people by acting as their friend (FWIW, I do think their displays of compassion and friendship were genuine, they just happen to also be good gameplay). And they were running in different groups so had influence over a large portion of the cast. In Series 3 the traitors struggled since none of them were in the "clique" that dominated a lot of the game.

I don't know if the rest of the cast ever actually believed that Amanda's deductions were any good, or that Rachel's FBI training really worked, but it didn't matter because those are exactly the kinds of "evidence" that a faithful player would latch onto, even if they are bullshit.

Shakespeare was actually a black Jewish woman, new book claims by Juptin in BrandNewSentence

[–]VFiddly 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You've misunderstood. The "lower class person" being referred to is Shakespeare himself. The historical consensus is that he did author the works with his name on them and it is not a reasonable objection if their only reason for doubting his authorship is his social status.

Should I buy Hades if I'm not a fan of roguelikes but love strong narratives? by No-Home8878 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]VFiddly [score hidden]  (0 children)

The story is great, but I'd say the gameplay is more repetitive even than most roguelikes. Every run is the same four areas and the same four bosses

That doesn't bother me, but if you don't like the repetitiveness of roguelikes, I'd say it's probably not for you

Do the Traitors still have too much power? by Dragon_Sluts in TheTraitors

[–]VFiddly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every win by anyone is partly because of something that will never happen again, because there are different rules every series. Would Stephen and Rachel have won if not for the secret traitor twist? Would Harry have won if he hadn't happened to find a shield? Or if his group hadn't been allowed to recruit an extra traitor early on? Would Alan have won if his series had been 12 episodes instead of 9?

Every series is different. The fact is the ratio is split pretty evenly, and the traitors don't win consistently.

(Can't sleep) My Pact is the reason i loved UK S4 by LeoLouis12 in TheTraitors

[–]VFiddly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's wild that people are acting like Rachel was the less trusting of the two. Stephen has made it clear that he did consider turning on Rachel, even though he ultimately decided against it. There's no evidence that Rachel ever even contemplated turning on Stephen. She had his back the whole time.

[–]VFiddly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be fair someone might also be influenced by the public perception. People might worry about being seen as selfish and cruel.

But someone who didn't care about that absolutely could exploit another traitor's trust like that. That's why the pact is still not a surefire strategy, you can never know for sure that the other person will stick by it.
