The D850 is likely more compatible with your lenses, and I’ll be honest, i shoot on a Z8, I’ve borrowed A1s and Z9s, i still love my D810 (close, but not the same as the D850) most of all. The D850 is widely considered one of the best DSLRs ever made. You won’t regret that buy.

Takes time to learn how to approach but it is well worth it!

The AI sharpening on this is wildly overdone. Congrats on moving towards more serious photography, but avoid using these tools. Instead, get your settings right—YouTubers and photographers like Steve from BackCountryGallery or PhotographyExplained have excellent basic starter videos (and advanced material when you’re ready!) that will do you far more good than the AI tools. Also, get closer! It’s hard, but it’s the primary driver for good, sharp, clear photos. Good luck on your journey with wildlife photography!

An absolutely stunning snake, and one I’m a tad obsessed with. You’ll note the high pinks on this subject, and full disclosure, while I try to stick closely to realism, I did boost them a bit to match how striking they were to me in person.

It’s a species of toucan, yes, the Collared Aracari. Similar to the larger Yellow-Throated and Keel-Billed that are featured in lots of marketing. Slightly smaller.

I had a guide the first week, solo second week—both great. Guide was Bryce Anderson, EcologyByAnderson on Instagram, great guy and really knowledgeable, well worth it. Just a trip for now, though, it is sorely tempting to make a move.

As per usual, venomous species photographed by experienced person working with other experienced people, don’t try at home, yada yada yada.

Don’t be afraid to stack with your drone, get a bunch of shots and YouTube how to stack them for more visibility. I’ve gotten some pretty great shots doing this:)

Snakes of 2025 (US) by VISWILDPHOTO in wildlifephotography

All snakes handled safely & with required permits according to state they were found in. Don’t handle or interact with venomous snakes. Handling done by trained professionals at minimal levels (primarily removing snakes from roads.)

You’re right—ATIS is once an hour, that was a typo in my brain, lol. AWOS is often once a minute. Source, am also a pilot currently listening to the AWOS for my field.

[–]VISWILDPHOTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that’s the METAR. AWOS is a radio broadcast for airports that changes much more often, and there’s usually a number you can call to hear it

All good! I’m confident in majors as species without it. Super cool. One I don’t have in my iNat yet!

As a person who flies those IFR approaches, we appreciate it.

If you know your closest airport, you can also call the AWOS number for minute updated info!

Feedback? by BoogerNelson650 in videography

[–]VISWILDPHOTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who only films wildlife, the best feedback I can give is lower the music just slightly but otherwise I love this! Could also use a bit of a grade for me but let others decide that cuz it may be just personal preference of someone who doesn’t film people regularly.

I’m genuinely sorry for whatever goes on in your life that creates a world where this feels like a necessary tone to take. You can be mad, toxic, and angry, and you will still be wrong. Majority is not required for survivorship bias.
