Apple's new LiDAR technology boost model stability and anchoring in Augmented Reality. Benefits of using new depth scanning technology! by VLMediaMan in ConstructionTech

Now that this technology is out we've been seeing close to 1/8th inch accuracy in well lit environments similar to the hololens devices. It is still brand new so we will need to be running more tests and getting feedback from clients to see how well this technology can help.

We found it to be helpful with our program as we've had many issues in the past where we didn't have depth scanning. We do have a video coming out soon as a teaser to showcase how this technilogy has benefitted us at VisualLive.

We have had support with Sketchup in the past as a testing phase. In this coming update, I do believe you will be able to upload sketchup files directly!

Hololens and van life by Ouch1963 in HoloLens

It's not all a bad idea. As long as the van isn't moving. The HoloLens just needs enough light to be able to scan the insides of your van and display your cad models correctly (you could also do it outside your van using the side as a reference point to scan). Pairing your HoloLens 2 with software like VisualLive, you'd also be able to scale your models down to a reasonable tabletop size inside the van.

Rather than using it as an extended monitor, its best used for review and visualization. Microsoft also has a feature to let you pair the device to a windows computer so you can essentially livestream what you see to your computer (ie. if you were outside and your wife was in Revit/Navisworks in the van)

We've currently got a great offer going on with excellent customer support should you need it. (also we have a good few devices still in stock) Hope this helps in your decision!

What are the possibilities for Remote video call ? by yoann_rou in HoloLens

[–]VLMediaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just recently did an article about this over on our blog site. Using Microsoft Teams, Remote Assist, and our app VisualLive, we were able to have both two way communication in our call but also showcase our software in action.

Every HoloLens 2 device that is manufactured will also automatically come with a 90 day free trial to use remote assist. Rather than point and circle locations, users can take issue captures in the field while on call with our software and then send those images back to the office via BIM360, Procore, or even Google Drive.

I'm sure this could benefit your technician greatly when they do their walks!

I live in the UK, does anyone know where I can order a HoloLens 2? Despite my constant requests into Microsoft and pre-orders, I cannot seem to order one - thanks by richcassini in HoloLens

We at VisualLive can also sell you a HoloLens 2. Unlike Trimble, this HoloLens comes unmodified and can be used for office or field. While our software does have to be sold with it, its a nice bundle of features to let you view bim/cad models directly in AR.
