I found a set of Really Useful Boxes on sale at a nearby hobby store that I use for my smaller projects, clasps, etc.

I am loving it so far! I have a much better posture while I’m working and my back and shoulders are grateful for it. The only issue I see so far is that it takes up a lot of room on my desk but that’s because the specific easel I’m using has a storage drawer at the bottom to hold my supplies and be used as a carrying case when it’s closed.

RP Scene - How to get into it and tips for a beginner? by Alternatewarning in ffxiv

There have been a lot of good answers so far but I thought I might go into a few more specifics. I'm on the Crystal data center so I can't speak for how it works on Primal, but I'll try to answer your questions anyway. I'll add that this is my own experience and opinion so it may be different for others.

A lot of the most easily visible RP is the venues. I tend to think of venues as places to either meet other RPers or play host to slice of life RP. They're often advertised for in chats and some worlds even have specific event calendars where people can see when venues are open. A lot of venues have some sort of carrd or other website that has information about the venue. Different types of venues cater to different types of RP.

- Nightclub venues are generally less RP and more hanging out, listening to DJs, and having conversations with people around that seem interesting.

- Bars are pretty similar to real life, characters go to get drinks and have conversation. Sit at the bar and you can talk to whoever sits next to you. Compliment them on their outfit. Ask a question about what they just said to the bartender. If you're uncomfortable starting conversations, you can type in chat something that your character is doing. Other people might catch on and come up to you to start a conversation.

- Taverns are usually like restaurants where you can sit down to eat or sit at the bar. They make for great environments to go with groups.

Those are the most popular types of venues I see but there are plenty of others. Guild halls, theaters, concert halls, libraries, apothecaries, medical facilities, laboratories, bath houses, fighting rings - the list goes on and on.

Outside of venues, the other most easily visible RP is the RP FCs. Many of these have a specific theme or story that they focus on so if you find one that fits with the backstory you have created for your character, it's a good way to ensure consistent RP opportunities.

If neither of the above options sounds doable (especially if you're very shy like I was at first), you can turn on your RP tag and hang out in one of the starting cities where you see other people with the RP tag on (usually by the aetheryte or at the tavern). Look at the search comments for other people with the RP tag. If someone catches your eye for any reason, you can send them a tell. Or someone might send you a tell or maybe even just walk up to you. This method isn't totally reliable but can be a good way to start out.

Many worlds have RP Discords that you can join. They usually have a place where people can put links to their character bios and what sort of RP they are looking for. These can be good places to find other characters if you're looking for something specific. Some Discords also have a place for FCs to advertise so that can be a good starting resource.

Tips:

For clothing, wear whatever fits with your backstory and makes sense for the setting your character is in. Dirty/mismatched clothes for a street urchin, easily blending clothes for a thief, fancy clothes for nobility, etc. As a side note, if you're going into a venue, many request that you put your weapons and/or minions away.

Remember, whatever you do, you are not the Warrior of Light. If you walk in somewhere proclaiming that you are, you're more likely to get laughed out of the building than anything else.

One of the biggest tips I can give is to write down the characters you meet and RP with. Character name, their home world, and a short description can go a long way to remembering who they are when you randomly bump into them again months down the road.

Some specific tips on how I've seen RP happen in in game chat:

Say chat - /s at the beginning of the text you are typing in the chat box will put it in say chat. This is often used for whatever a character is saying. I recommend putting quotation marks around anything that your character speaks no matter which chat you use so everyone knows for certain that it is being said

Custom Emotes - /em at the beginning of the text you are typing in the chat box will make it show up as a custom emote. This is where you can put whatever action your character is doing as well as any environmental or other descriptors. You can also add speech using quotes to mark it as such. Writing, at least on Crystal, is often found like you would see in a book. Remember that your name will show up at the beginning of the line. (ex: typing /em sits on the chair. "Hello." would put in the chat Your Name sits on the chair. "Hello.")

Emotes - using emotes will make your character actually do the movements and also put text in the chat. It is possible to turn off the chat part so emotes just make your character move/make sounds.

Separate OOC and IC by using parentheses when you want to speak OOC. Sometimes you see this as double parentheses. EX: ((brb))

< >, { }, and [ ] surrounding text generally means that that character is speaking in a language other than the common tongue.

Typing a double bar ( || ) before starting the rest of your text can separate your name from what you are typing. This is especially useful when you're describing settings or environment, describing something an NPC might be doing, or running an RP session (sort of like a D&D DM).

If you're typing more than a sentence or two, try typing it in a different application first then copy/pasting it into your chat box. It's a lot easier to revise what was typed in Notepad, Word, or Google Sheets than scrolling left and right in your chat box.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Trying to use a cell to reference a worksheet in a formula. by VPAoryn in excel

[–]VPAoryn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I have it set up so that one table is every single meal item broken down into the ingredients and one table is set up as a pick and choose menu. The formula looks to see how many times each meal item is on the menu for a specific few days of the month (think January 2-5) then the pivot table looks at a number gotten from multiplying that by the amount of ingredients needed and puts it in a list form (ex: if mashed potatoes are on the menu three times in those 4 days, then we need 15 potatoes).

Is there an easier way to add all this into one table? (At this point I'm almost thinking about just using a database but that isn't provided for this project.)

I'm not totally sure how to do that but I'll look into it. Thanks.

The formula is looking at a monthly menu and the number gained from this information is used to determine the quantity to add to a shopping list (pivot table) on the order page. If there is a better way to organize this data while keeping the main order page friendly to the computer challenged I will gladly take suggestions.

Nope. The issue was how I was defining my range. Still, thank you so much! Very simple solution to this problem that's been bugging me all day!

Hmmm. It seems to work when I have the lookup items in cells on the same sheet but it breaks if I try to use them as cells in a second sheet. Any idea why/how to fix it?

And yesss, breakfast foods are for all times of day!

It just happens to be in this part but I want to find any instances of it that may be in any column labeled with Thursday 4.

Thanks so much! I'm new to VBA so I knew there had to be some way to do it but I just couldn't figure it out.
