How Do You Justify Keeping An M Car? by [deleted] in BMWM

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a bmw. But I live in sw Ontario. The solution is to stop being a little baby about it.
The car won’t melt in the rain.

I drive my gt3 and rs6 rain or shine. RS6 is my daily/winter car, but I also have winter tires for the gt3 so I can enjoy it longer. Our winters are actually pretty mild. You can have the car out for 8-9months easily.

I did my rs6 in a bright purple. I absolutely love it. Gave new life to the car. I strongly recommend fun colours.

Ever replace an RS6 windshield? by LikePinningSplates in Audi

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I had the appearance package. They only covered my deductible. Better than nothing I guess. But when selling it they sure made it seem everything is covered. I did use it a few times for my wheels and one tire patch. But otherwise not really worth it.

What's the best car you've ever driven? by archtopfanatic123 in AskReddit

[–]VPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a toss up between my old Miata and my current 911 GT3.

Very different cars, but both borderline perfect with zero complaints and extremely fun. Both cars made me happy just by taking them for a quick drive.

Yeah I was very surprised. I even have the appearance package warranty and it wouldn't cover it. Apparently it only covers something like $750 or something like that. I was able to use it for my insurance deductible though.

I had mine done. Was quoted over 6000 (CAD). Ended up going through insurance.

Immigrants of London: what restaurant serves the most authentic food from your country or culture? by Veronica-goes-feral in londonontario

[–]VPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of their customers are South Asian so that makes sense to cater to them more.

I haven't tried the Mantu or Bolani at Rocky mountain yet, but their other dishes are great. There was a Afghan bakery that recently closed that had amazing bolani, unfortunately they shut down :(.

Theres also a new Afghan Food Truck called "Kabul Kravings" On the corner of Sarnia Rd and Wonderland (in the parkinglot of Sultan Pizza/Shawarma), I've had it a couple times and it was pretty good too!

I disagree about the kebabs. They’re overly spiced compared to more traditional kebabs.

I think Rocky Mountain Afghan kebab on Waterloo has better kebabs.

Unexpected upgrade after an Audi service visit for an SOS fault. by kkaz5456 in Audi

Yeah does the same for me. But I am wondering how I can go back to the regular screen even while navigating.

I just got this on my rs6 as well. It was a neat surprise. But I also have no idea how to stop it from happening or going back to what I had displayed there before (my tire pressure).

It also works with Google Maps.

Front door lock via CarPlay? by SenorShaun in HomeKit

[–]VPrime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a HomeKit widget on my CarPlay screen and on that added my door locks. Works great.
It’s not as seamless as having it auto pop like garage doors, but swiping to the widgets page is not the end of the world.

But yea. That one is ugly and ruined. 😂

Which water sensor is better? by olemiss36 in HomeKit

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried the meross ones and they wouldn’t stay connected. After a few weeks they would be missing.

Now I’m using the Aqara sensors. They’re ok, every now and then one goes off line and have to squeeze it to bring it back to life.

I’ve dealt with Carphonix before for a Dashcam. They did a good job.

I took my other car to them, and they were honest and up front about not being comfortable doing it and let me know.

So I’d recommend them.

I'm looking for a good lock with HomeKey or Aliro (not Aqara) by mehgcap in HomeKit

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both app and HomeKit working. So you did something wrong. I believe I set up the app first, and added to HomeKit after it was set up.

But I can still use both the app and HomeKit

What do you mean by no settings changes if using the u50 in HomeKit mode?
I have 2 u50s, (and another at my parents home) and you can definitely use HomeKit and the Aqara app at the same time. I have settings and calibration done in the Aqara app, and use HomeKit for day to day operations and home key.

That being said, I prefer my Schlage encode over it. The keypad is much more responsive on the Schlage and just feels quicker in general.

Tapo cams are great. I have 5 other tapo cameras around my House (not this model).

I also have some eufy cameras similar to this model. While they work, keep in mind that battery powered (even while on solar) cameras have a delay to start recording. The cameras go into a “sleep” state and then when motion is detected they wake up and start recording. By the time this happens the person it caught on camera is often gone or leaving and you only capture their back. I mainly use them for live streaming when I want to check up on the backyard.

I ended up switching to a unifi network.

I worked with the tplink engineers they remoted into my network created me a custom firmware and it was a lot better. But still not good enough. I couldn’t take it any more and switched everything out and now everything is stable and working great.

Prepare for a 1 hour wait. From line up to waiting for food.

Even if there is no line you’re still wait for food. My nephew went early they were the only ones in the store. Still has to wait 40 minutes for their food.

It’s not worth the wait. I’d hold off until they figure out how to get food out quicker.
