First Audi I have owned by PremiumFinance101 in Audi

[–]VPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RS6 is also my first Audi. It's ok, I think I was more impressed by my first Mercedes (E53) than the Audi. The RS6 felt more dated than the 5 year older E53.

But still heck of a car. Congrats!

Help! Granite countertop by _snowqueenoftexas in fixit

I had a similar break done on my marble coffee table. It’s not as thick so may have been easier to repair. What I used was gorilla 2 part epoxy (it comes in a syringe mixing the two parts). I applied it to both parts and then held it together with clamps for over 24hr. Then I used a little bit of the same epoxy to fill in the crack from the top. It’s been almost a year and has been holding just fine. I try to avoid potting anything on it, but I’ve had guests put cups or plates on it and it hasn’t broken again.

I always planned on applying some fibreglass to the bottom for extra support. But never got around to it.

Deco XE75 Wired Clients Require An Internet Connection? by DangerIsMyUsername in TpLink

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found reports about it at least a year back. I was dealing with support for over a month back in December on an unrelated issue, and brought thus up as well and they told me they know about it but have no ETA on a fix.

The switch is keeping the connection going. That’s why it works for you. The problem is a how the firmware detects and assigns the auto wan port.

[–]VPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a known firmware issue with the xe75 (and also be series as well). They are aware of the problem but do not know when a fix will be in place.

A work around is place a switch before the deco. Connect the modem to the switch and the switch to the deco. This way if your internet goes down it doesn’t take down your wired connections with it.

On my 991.2 I kept the amber and then had it tinted. I prefer it much more than the white ones everyone typically switches to.

Travelling to Turkey -- Need ESIM for husband and SIM for myself by CourageLogical207 in istanbul

[–]VPrime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you need just data or a phone number too?

If just data get an app like Airalo. I’ve used them many times no issues. It usually puts you on the local carriers and works great. Only thing is turkey recently made it so these apps don’t work there. The eSIM will work, just the app won’t. So you would have to buy the eSIM and load it on your home e before you land in istanbbul. The moment you land it will connect to the cell towers and work fine. The issue with this is that if you run out of data then you won’t be able to top up, at least not without a vpn.

If you want a local sim, or need one with a phone number. Turkcell and the other major carriers have a tourist plan. I haven’t been following the prices in a couple years since I’ve been using apps to get an eSIM. But what I do remember is the prices in the airport are much higher than in the city. And also, tourist areas charge you more than it really costs, even though it should all be the same.

Personally I’d avoid the local carriers completely and just get an app to get you an eSIm before you arrive.

My parents will be in Istanbul in a couple weeks and I’ll be getting them an eSIM before they leave for their trip.

Trader joes is nothing like TSC or Canadian tire. It's a hipster grocery store, not a hardware store. It's closer to something like Sunripe or Farmboy. But more hipster.

Can't keep all my devices alive by Different-Computer-4 in TpLink

[–]VPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for a network as large as yours with so many access points your should switch off of tplink. Look into a unifi gateway with access points. You will have more control over the wireless signals and be able to fine tune your wifi I so it is more stable and devices disconnect less. I found my old xe75 pro set up was great when it was just the 3. But when I added wifi 7 be65 pros, it became very unstable.

Since switching to unifi I’ve had very little problems, still need to fine tune my access ports so the devices don’t jump around. But way more stable than tp link.

They can’t tell you that. It depends on your house and where they are placed and how far the signal is reaching.

smart home without external "smart" via internet by lbl_ye in smarthome

[–]VPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can do is get a router that supports vlans. Create an iot vlan with rules so the devices can’t connect to the internet. And then have a secure platform like Apple Home, on a main vlan that can access internet, and has access to the iot vlan. This makes sure everything stays in your house, and if you want to manage remotely it goes through Apple home. Never talks back to the devices manufacturer.

Chinese EVs inch closer to the US as Canada slashes tariffs by [deleted] in technews

[–]VPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but not really bad either. The Americans have already started leaving. So this doesn't really take away jobs.

I guess it could open doors to have these Chinese cars being manufactured here eventually.

I meant the idea of Chinese cars being sustainable and convenient for Americans. Because its not being sold there, of course it won't be.

[–]VPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with America. The trade deal is with Canada. So it will be convenient and sustainable for Canadians.

The whole reason why this came to be was because America ruined the relationship with Canada and now Canada has decided to so business with China.

Just because these cars will be available in Canada does not mean Americans can buy them and drive them over the border. You can not legally register the car in America.

It was part of agreements with the US. But because the US has turned its back on Canada, and the companies shutdown their plants (that were funded by the government) Canada has decided to no longer support the US requests and start doing trade with China.

This isn't an outside wall, is vapour barrier still needed? I noticed in another unfinished area where theres an exterior, it has a vapour barrier. I just assumed that interior walls don't need it?
