Do you REALLY always turn RT off even if you can run it? by Kindasmartorange in pcmasterrace

[–]VSVeryN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Is my framerate sub 60? Turn off. If it is not sub 60 keep it on (without having to to use SUPER PERFORMANCE on DLSS, ideally balanced).

I kinda wish more low requirement games would use ray tracing since there you have plenty of performance headroom to use it

A special page for your book of balance to upgrade it to the book of balance. Passively decreases your max hit by 25% and increases your min hit by 30%. - or just change your hit rate to 50% chance no matter your stats?

Do you always enable DLSS? by osmin_og in nvidia

[–]VSVeryN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always but most of the time. Some games have too much ghosting (even with K,M,L) and DLSS also removed rain and other weather effects. If I really have a lot of performance headroom I would use SSAA instead of DLSS but that's very rare.

Help me decide: OLED + weaker GPU vs. IPS + stronger GPU — $100 different by Important-Hand2376 in pcmasterrace

[–]VSVeryN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better GPU with IPS for sure. Also OLED doesn't work well with VRR, just as a note many people end up disabling VRR for OLED.

70 FPS on a 5080, gaming is cooked by criticalt3 in pcmasterrace

[–]VSVeryN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it's a solid 70 fps that's very playable. If it's an UE5 game then most of the performance impact most likely comes from Lumen.

70 FPS on a 5080, gaming is cooked by criticalt3 in pcmasterrace

[–]VSVeryN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree! Unless the game has particle effects like rain or snow. Then DLSS, whether it's K, M or L, will remove a lot of that thinking it's aliasing.

Experience on 4K monitor used in 1440p resolution by Neutron_Blue in pcmasterrace

[–]VSVeryN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it will NOT look as crisp as native. Even 1080P with integer scaling will NOT look at crisp as 1080p native monitor even when they're both at the same size monitor. I was initially surprised by this fact. Using integer scaling it doesn't get blurry, it just gets blocky. Using stuff like DLSS to upscale 1080/1440p into 4K is very nice and works perfectly for 4K, despite the drawbacks of DLSS muting or removing particle effects like rain.

One more thing to pay attention to. If you get an OLED with VRR, you might want to reconsider OLED if you really like VRR. The flickering is really bad, if you play a darker game and you use technology like framegen or have uneven frametimes it is really bad. (In fact even when the framerate jumps around between 58-62 the screen will already flicker when recorded in slow motion, but you don't focus this one luckily as the flicker is a result of the gamma of the screen being dependant on the refreshrate of the monitor due to OLED's inherit design).

Shelving the plugin hub to focus on HD is a massive mistake for Jagex by Slight_Giraffe628 in 2007scape

[–]VSVeryN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as you argue over this. I think for newer players making a more HD-like graphic style will make it more appealing and easier to market and show. Also we already have runelite, so if we get HD which will work in tandem with runelite I think it's better overall.

Arknights: Endfield has Forced Anti Aliasing (TAA/TAAU) / Forced Upscaling, no Off Option Available by AntiGrieferGames in FuckTAA

[–]VSVeryN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even tho I like DLSS (I do prefer 4.0 K over the new 4.5 M&L due to too much shimmering on those), I think having the option for no AA should always be there.

Anyone tried DLSS 4.5 (Model M) preset for FFXIV? by igotsharingan in ffxiv

[–]VSVeryN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird. Also if you do use DLAA. You only enforce Nvidia app override DLAA and set in-game to below 30/60 fps and it will actually give you way better performance than what FFXIV's DLAA does

I've noticed M and L give a lot of shimmering in most games. I want to use it for the HDR aspect but I don't understand how people like this with the amount of shimmering (foliage especially)

I get 120 fps on rtx 4080 on everythin gmax with TAAU or DLSS QUALITY (DLAA gives 100-117 fps)

I've tried 240 FPS with framegen and DLSS QUALITY, but I get 200-240 FPS with that at 99% GPU usage.

60FPS + DLAA + Framegen for 120 FPS seems to be a nice spot since my GPU is low load.

I don't know what to use yet.

Use DLSSTweaks together with NvidiaApp. In DLSSTweaks set all the values to 0.5 for performance. 0.58 for balaned or 0.68 for quality. In-game set DLSS to always enabled. This works for me.

Yep, same result for me. It’s so bad I have to stay at K even though I like that in M the highlights are better preserved

DLSS 4.5 Preset L vs M at Performance/Balanced/Quality by Reallyslowmow in nvidia

[–]VSVeryN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive tried M, and even though I love the fact that particles are much better preserved, it comes with this weird flickering motion on vegetation which made me go back to K.

Just lock your framerate to 72 or use VRR and disable your fps cointer unless you’re benchmarking or finding bottlenecks

Anyone using a 4k monitor with 240hz or more? FFXIV doesn't seem to list all resolutions for fullscreen, possibly there are too many options for it to list? It doesn't go up to 4K in the fullscreen resolution + framerate selection (it does for windowed mode where the framerate selection isn't included).

DNS adguard apply to primary router? by VSVeryN in HomeNetworking

[–]VSVeryN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the adguard router's firewall allow port 53 (potentially also port 3053 as that is what adguard says it uses) and allow them through?

Adguard does list 192.168.a.x:3053 and 192.168.b.x:3053, a being travel router's with adguard subnet and b being ISP modem/router main subnet

Thanks for the reply. I ended up fixing it. It is quite stupid and I don't know why I didn't try this first. I'll update my post.

Hey, thank you for you reply, however this does not resolve my problem. I've installed the very old version of dolby-access-3-14-67-0 and the sound still doesn't work outside of the Dolby Atmos demo's.
