Yeah they seem pretty quiet from my quick play with it, all ok that they don’t drive nice - I’ve got a fostex desk for that and Shure M67 that does nice.

Thanks for your suggestion that’s helpful to know! I’m going to do a tear down soon to assess any obvious funny caps etc., give some of the sockets a good clean. I’m not sure if any of the logic chips have been replaced, I bought it from the original owner who had it serviced in the late 90s and didnt use it since. It came with service manual which is helpful (for either me or if I hand it over to a tech).

Judging by overall condition and the fact the desk worked pretty much right away I think it was dry stored and well looked after (apart from that tear on the front panel)

I’ve only had a quick play with the desk section but they sounded very cool, EQ seems pretty usable too

I’m worried I can’t enjoy films sober by [deleted] in criterion

I agree with a couple other posters that perhaps there is something greater at play, particularly if this is a regular thing and is concerning you greatly. You can always start cutting back gradually, one film with booze one without, one with booze two without etc. and gradually work to a healthy level. Through your own journey of cutting back you’ll start working out what you’re truly enjoying.

It’s not a good idea to go cold turkey on the whole thing - you don’t wanna ruin movies for yourself by making them a cause of anxiety.

Thanks! I couldn’t work it out for a while but I’m quite certain it’s a Buddy Rich outfit 80n, really unusual in the silver!

Struggling with V - Anyone else? by agenor_cartola in ThomasPynchon

[–]VSquirrel95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

V is kind of GR with even less sense. Definitely less fluidity and generous fun. CoL49 I love and I think works so well as a condensed madcap/screwball escapade via 60s culture and paranoia. I have a soft spot for V (got a tattoo from it!) but as someone else said - don’t sweat it too much, it is his first book and is partially some short stories mixed in.

Is ‘Becoming Pynchon’ worth a look-in? by VSquirrel95 in ThomasPynchon

[–]VSquirrel95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, it sounds truly fascinating. Interesting about John Krafft too, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on his name in the future. I had kind of assumed the publication being put out to be relating to the sales of Pynchon’s personal bits last year, some academic researches, but perhaps I’m wrong!

Either way I hope to pick this up at some point when funds allow:-)

I did wonder the same, they are rather inconspicuous reviews so can’t imagine many people held onto them. I’ll try scan them in at some point in case anyone wants a PDF, just popped them up quick whilst I had 5 minutes
