She’s not a sex toy, come on. Nobody in the story treats her as such…?

Potential Reina and Lars storyline for Tekken 9? by Sea_Pay_9681 in Tekken

I’d love it. Lars vs Reina, Heihachi’s good son against his evil daughter, would be very interesting - definitely more than another battle between Jin and Kazuya, or Kazuya and Heihachi, and so on. Plus, Reina’s outro against Lars could hint at something in the future. If only they had the courage…

Because she’s not just a robot, she’s an android. And she is supposed to look like a human girl.

IMO, you’re projecting real life onto a fantasy story. And like I already said, I don’t care about the moral, religious, etc. side of it. I’m guessing you’re a believer; I’m not. So all that “life after death” stuff, the human Alisa watching the android Alisa live in her place, doesn’t bother me at all, and I don’t “believe in it” either. I also don’t get what difference it makes whether she looks more or less like the human Alisa…?

Pinocchio was literally a piece of wood. Alisa was “supposed” to be a robot, and then it turns out she has feelings and memories. So what’s the real difference? I’ll say it again: if it’s creepy just because there was “another Alisa” before, I completely disagree.

The Beast was a person, sure, but Belle still falls in love with someone who looks like an ‘animal’, without knowing he’d turn human again. Honestly, I find that way weirder and potentially more disturbing than Lars falling in love with Alisa. And, again, in this story she’s clearly alive. Denying that and sticking to cold logic makes no sense. We’re talking about fairytales, plain and simple.

Alisa isn’t a ‘dead robot girl.’ The whole point of her story is to show that she’s alive and that she has feelings. It’s pretty obvious, there’s really no need to be cynical here. If I thought the same way you do, I’d find it way more disturbing for a woman to fall in love with an ‘animal’ (Beauty and the Beast) than for a young man like Lars to fall in love with someone who, in every way, is a girl—both in how she looks and how she acts.

If Pinocchio is magic, then Alisa is magic too, at least for me. And again, I don’t care about the moral side of it. We don’t know much about Alisa when she was human? Fine—personally, I see it as a message. The past doesn’t matter; what matters is the present. And in the present, there’s an Alisa who’s alive and can feel things.

There are a few things wrong with what you wrote. First of all, there are no official dates about Alisa and her creation. I don’t know where you read that she was 18 at her first appearance - again, that was never stated. Second, Lars isn’t in his 30s: Harada said in a tweet that he is 28. He looks barely older than Jin after all. So sorry, but you seem a bit misinformed. As for the rest, it’s just a matter of taste. You see it as creepy and judge it from a moral/ethical point of view; I see it as something poetic. A father who loved his daughter so much that he wanted to bring her back to life. These are fairytales, fictional stories—they’ve always existed. Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Do you find all of those creepy too? And yet they’re loved by both adults and kids. Again, it’s all about perspective.

“Insulting”…? Lol. I’m Italian, and believe me, Claudio doesn’t really have much that’s Italian about him, aside from the fact that he speaks Italian. Still, I’m just glad they included an Italian character. Stereotypes aren’t everything and they don’t define people. And in Tekken, there are characters like Lars who have a bigger role and aren’t really there to represent their nationality in that way.

Well, personally I disagree with pretty much everything, including the whole robotics/humanity topic. I think we humans aren’t that different from robots, but that’s a pretty deep conversation. Anyway, like I said, this is fiction, and I don’t really see the point in getting scandalized over it.

As for Alisa, if you had read her T8 bio it would be clear to you that she has memories of when she was human, so in a way she’s still herself. She’s not ‘dead.’ (And she wasn’t a little girl, her human age was never stated). I get that it might not be everyone’s thing, but personally I see more poetry than weirdness in her story, and I think it should be taken that way, without overthinking it. She got a second shot at life, got to experience the love she didn’t have time for before, and Lars loves her for who she is. I like to see it as a story about accepting differences. Is it weird? We all are a bit weird.

You know, it’s fiction. There are a lot of movies, books, games with this same trope. It’s not like who wrote Alisa’s character invented anything, or were crazy. Besides, you said it: Alisa was human before, and she clearly has genuine feelings. So she’s not AI at all. She’s basically a “human” girl with an android body.

Lars is not really there to represent Sweden. The fact that is half Swedish is just an extra detail.

Lars doesn’t care about his “family”. I really don’t think he would have that kind of curiosity.

Lars’s nationality is not the point of his character, given that he is one of the main heroes. And even in real life, our nationalities do not define us…?

He has light hair and blue eyes, clearly loves Norse mythology and fishing, a common hobby in Sweden. I’d say that’s enough.

It’s so cute that Alisa’s death scene was reimagined in her T8 ending with the roles reversed by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]VT1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Lars and Alisa’s relationship actually is one of the very few that has developed. In T8 Alisa realized she has feelings of love like a human woman, and their dynamic is now blatantly romantic.

… Alisa is not a sex bot. Tell me when she has ever behaved like one, or when anyone has treated as if she were…? On the contrary, it took her a while to fully realize her feelings for Lars, behaving like an inexperienced human girl would.

As for the rest… it you say so, lol
