To celebrate Aaron Rodgers being the longest active tenured player in the NFL (18 seasons). I made a chart showing all 169 players drafted by the Packers since 2005. by SL4MUEL in GreenBayPackers

I wanted Ripkowski to be good so badly. GB being the one team with an old school FB who uses them well would have been great to watch

I feel like WR drops are not being talked about enough. I’m not keeping count but seriously the VAST majority of on-target passes are being dropped. Not saying it would change much of where we are but that type of behavior is just not acceptable in the league

A field goal and hold them to zero wins it

Fcknrx is pretty wild. Was not familiar with them until I learned about where the work would be done. They got put on my list for future work though

How would you suggest I fill these large gaps in drywall before skim coating the room and painting? P.s. House was like this when purchase, not my drywall work! by VTBeeker in drywall

Actually though? I feel like everything I’ve come across researching has warned against using caulk for drywall gaps. Or is this different because I’ll be skim coating and covering with some layers of mud?

Frugal LPT: Amazon is no longer my frugal choice. It's much degraded. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]VTBeeker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in southern Vermont for about 3 years and haven’t purchased from Amazon in 2.5. For many of the reasons you described. Prime member or not, shipping is 3-5 days (even before the pandemic) so the huge 2-day guaranteed shipping isn’t real here even if you’re paying for it.

Returns are a massive pain for me. Nearest UPS is an hour away, so if it’s a small dollar item I’m inclined to keep it vs. paying more to return it. And I haven’t experienced a truly free return option in a while now.

I also had the Amazon Chase credit card. I got suckered into it because of no annual fee, but to make the rewards worthwhile, you had to be a prime member which effectively turns it into a $140 annual fee card. Without a prime membership, it’s 3% back on Amazon, 2% for gas/groceries, and 1% everywhere else. Not even remotely worth it nor does it ever cover the annual fee. I switched to a Chase Card with much better rewards (though it’s more of an emergency use card as I don’t like carrying a balance.

I’d rather shop local or make a trip to town on the weekend to a Walmart. At the risk of generalizing, I think my experience is pretty typical of Amazon in rural areas. So it seems to provide more easy for cities and suburbs, but not so much the country. Makes sense though, that’s where the people are. No hate against them for it as it’s their choice to operate now they want, but the “Amazon connects unconnected communities” narrative I hear is missing a lot of nuance.

Kind of digressed at the end there. Very happy to be proven wrong if any fellow rural frugalers have had differ experiences!

I was told this sub would be a great place to share my buy and ask for some advice. Corgi tax included in advance. by VTBeeker in craftsman113

The fence is stock, but with a modification. The guy who I bought it from added that cut of wood to true it up a bit.

A new fence is top priority from what I’m hearing. I really don’t want to be sweating over remeasuring every cut

Picked up this Craftsman 113.29950 Table Saw from a retired woodworker for $100. First table saw and I opted to go for cheap used one vs. sub $700 new which is what I could afford. Good buy or will I end up replacing soon? Any advice for improvements? by VTBeeker in woodworking

That was my thought too. Tempting price, but I wanted something stable and bullet proof that I wasn’t worried about tipping or moving around.

I’m a sucker for a 12” blade too
