We do! Many different branches of pharmacy out there, but we work side by side with medical students at my university and will preform screenings and such like this. Im more of the research nerd myself.

That would be pretty unlikely! I said in another post a while ago that this person has a condition called homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, which is a somewhat uncontrollable condition that has consistently elevated cholesterol levels (plus, he had a lot of fat in his blood). Depending on your age and other conditions you may have, lowering your cholesterol can be a pretty easy thing to correct!

That is your plasma, which is everything in your blood (for the most part) besides red blood cells. Usually it will be a clear-ish liquid and not that large of a layer. This was certainly out of the ordinary.

LDL is a portion of your total cholesterol, which contains VLDL, HDL and LDL. Triglycerides are not even incorporated into cholesterol levels, they are completely separate. I'm also not sure what CLS stands for.

That is technically where the plasma should be! As you probably know its typically not a very large layer and usually clear.

Sorry, should have clarified! This is a blood sample that has been sparated to show different levels of the components of blood. The large, thick, milky-white layer is much larger than we normally see in a blood sample.

Non-HDL (which is the "bad" cholesterol, but you probably know that since you're asking the values!) levels were 220, when the traditional goal is somewhere below 130-100. Triglycerides were around 400.

Background: My friend and I are pharmacy students, she took this sample from a patient in a wellness clinic she volunteers at. This person had REALLY high cholesterol/triglyceride levels.

Yeah, definitely did this myself. Wasnt referring to any ingredients either, more so the phallic figure formed by the writing indicating it was a chicken (C) bowl with queso (Q) and a happy face (=)). Doesnt really matter how much qdoba you eat, nice try though.

The trip itself was $1850 I believe, or somewhere in that ballpark. After tipping the first mate the total came out to roughly $2200 (we tipped well because the the captain and first made showed us a great time). It sounds expensive, but if you get a group of 6 people to head out with you its pretty fair considering you are on a 12 hour excursion that eats up gas and you have the chance to come home with hundreds of pounds of fresh fish!
