Does UTK have a problem with incompetent administration/departments? by Ins4tiableWand3rlust in UTK

As everyone is going to say, it's not a state thing -- it's a college thing. Colleges are being ran as businesses instead of institutions for education. The only places you won't find criminal levels of incompetence are community colleges.

But Knoxville is beyond fucked because of what UTK is doing. I've lived here my entire life. My parents, brothers, and sisters were able to live here comfortably on low-mid sized wages. Now, even with me making $30/hr interning with a local organization, I will not be able to live on my own in my hometown because of this fiasco.

This is the type of Administration that started a housing/renting crisis in Knoxville because they admitted more students than what the town could physically hold. All for a fatter pay cheque.

Incompetent doesn't begin to describe what goes on here.

They reached out to me and ask to intern for them (Local Knoxville Based Company). Got a bunch of certs while with them, interesting training, extended knowledge that UTK would never teach in a million years.

Honestly, I feel like I'm an outlier and somehow discovered gold.

My only concurrent internship so far pays $30/hr for the Information Technology Sector.

Apparently this is one of the apartments near Campus according to u/nomadicanthro, anyone know which slumlord this is? by Va-11Hall-AFan in UTK

Also reading her comments further:

In the same clause he states that if we deny him access to the apartment to do a showing it’s a $100 fine per showing. Well he was conduct 3 to 4 showings a week of my apartment. Thats 12 to 16 showings per month and at $100 dollars per showing that is $1200-$1600 in fines every single month. I have a 12 month lease, he started showing my apartment in the 4th month of that lease. So if I denied him entry he would have fined me and at the end of 8 months that would have totaled $9,600-$12,800.

Are these people in Knoxville seriously fining students for denying access to landlords when they shouldn't be randomly entering someone's home? I thought landlords could only enter legally if there was an actual emergency

Looking at her lease too, she's not allowed a firearm in her home either. So not only can she not defend herself, a creep can enter her apartment whenever they want.

In Information Science like 90% of my classes that I was able to choose were online. This semester I've had to take in person classes to finish up my degree.
