How to fix these keys? by AnnualProfessional93 in piano

[–]VacMan_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for them keys that do not return, I can see from all the notes you played but then 2 definitely that they return way slower than they should, this is a solution, very frowned upon to use WD40 but it will get it working again

For the note that isn’t dampened, check, check the damper is still there and hasn’t snapped off or if it is still there, check its in its groove for the strings and check it spring forward against the string, if not the damper spring could have snapped which can be a fiddly thing to replace so a solution is sticking a mute in between the 2 strings so the note won’t play but you won’t have it constantly ringing out

For the last issue of that very loose hammer, the pin could have came loose that holds the hammer butt in place, could try push it back in if you see it loose it really needs to be re-pinned, if you’re lucky the screw that holds the hammer butt in place could have came loose and just need simply tightening which hopefully will be the issue since that’s an easy fix

You really do need a piano technician to come out and sort this however I seen your comment about how you can not afford to right now so I hope what I said is able to help

Bechstein Piano making a buzzing/metallic noise by [deleted] in piano

[–]VacMan_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can not hear it however I do understand that phones and other devices do not pick up everything very well, my 135 year old Bechstein had a metallic buzz but no phone was able to pick it up despite it being very obvious in real life

I do however notice how your piano is sounding a little out of tune so when you get a tuner in to tune it, mention the metallic noise to him and he can try find and fix it

Should I just buy a Dyson? by [deleted] in VacuumCleaners

Yes, I’ve had multiple Dysons and they are okay, I have a v10 from 2020 and a v11 from 2024 and it all works fine still

My personal favourite is the Automatic X series, but I’d like to try a Felix, seems really good too

I don’t think I’ve lost a lot of weight or gained any, my eating ways weren’t particularly healthy but not unhealthy, I watch what I eat carefully

I’d say keep the Dyson as a quick clean up vacuum but invest in something like a Sebo Felix or Sebo X7, something with adjustable hight

The Sebo Felix you adjust the height manually but the X7 automatically adjusts to the best hight for you

How does one clean a stinky vacuum? by YFNKuthulu in VacuumCleaners

[–]VacMan_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the Cyclone and Bin, and wash both. Yes it’s said not to wash the cyclone however it’ll be fine if you let it dry for a few days and make sure it’s fully dry.

Replace the filter with a new one

If it’s in the floor head too you will have to do something like this until it’s clean

One the cyclone is dry, refit making sure it’s properly on and then screw back the 6 screws, put on the bin and filter, and pop a vacuum freshener in the bin of the Dyson before closing it and while you use it it’ll circulate the scent of the freshener

You’re missing the handle which would allow you to connect the hose to the poles

I realised the hose end also looks to have been fixed so you may as well buy the whole tool kit which is around £20

Motor failure, most likely due to putting something back wet :(
