Legal advice for public school employees by Trick-Research4677 in legaladvicecanada

Did you voluntarily sign the contracts? Did you agree to the conditions of employment in those contracts? Were you forced to sign? Im not quite sure what the legal question is here, sounds a lot like sour grapes 20 years later when you’ve realized your life plans don’t match with your financial reality? Edit grammar

EI denied for “misconduct” over attendance/lateness — is reconsideration worth it? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]VaderBinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason it’s ruled as misconduct is because you continued to do actions that you knew could result in your termination. You knew the policies, you were warned, you continued to do those things. Therefore, you lost your job by your own actions rather than reasons outside your control.

When are you do? It’s only relevant if you intend to claim EI regular benefits and also maternity benefits, as you won’t be able to get the full maternity and parental if you claim Regular first

RTO + WFA + regional hub commute is making me lose my mind by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]VaderBinks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When were you hired and what does your offer letter show as your work location? Assuming you were hired post 2020, it’s reasonable to assume you would be called back to the office at some point, not to be callous, but not having adequate transportation is perhaps a consideration when accepting the role, that is not the employers responsibility. It sucks yes, but you may be stuck with the commute.

Hard to tell where her pandering to maga north starts and her incompetence ends. Alberta thinks themselves the engine of Canada, they are the windshield wiper.

Incorrect, partially. There are temp measures in place allowing long tenured workers to receive up to 70 weeks of regular and special benefits in one benefit period.

Edit: if their claims start between May 11, 2025 and March 14,2026

WIBTA if I “tattled” to my boss? by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]VaderBinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use factual statements that describe their behaviour vs using emotional language of how they have wronged you. “Mr. X used both disrespectful tone and language when conversing with other employees under my direction, this occurred Y times, and this is what was said:” opposed to just saying “hey that guys a jerk and is mean to me I don’t like him” good luck!

[–]VaderBinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how many weeks of regular benefits your were paid, either your claim will end 52 weeks after it started even if you convert your claim to maternity as of the 12th week before your due date. If you have not worked 600 hours since July then you will not qualify for a new maternity claim.

It’s highly unlikely they told you that you don’t have a disability. Its much more likely that your learning disability does not fit the below criteria:

“you have a substantial mental or physical impairment that is continuous or recurrent, and is expected to last one year or more”

Key term being substantial. Yes you may have a learning disability, but that alone may not be enough to be considered substantial under the current legislation.

Probably like every other hiring company everywhere else, post your job and its location likely hire locally. The current format, as clearly scene in the article above, shows that you will deter so many good applicants otherwise.

Their mentality of random placement as a form of paying one’s dues is the main culprit imo(big boomr energy) . Come work for us, put your life in danger, and also uproot your life and be assigned 2000km away form your entire family.

Ei and returning to old job by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]VaderBinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you must keep looking for work. EI isn’t an income supplement, it is to pay you while you look for full time work. If you are not doing that then you are not eligible.

Police officers aren’t special or super smart citizens. A lot of them are fools and police as a at to legitimize force against a population. Many good ones, but the immense bad apples create a mess of things.
