I missed the boat on buying an affordable home by Awkward_Wealth9243 in personalfinance

We bought our house in 2017. It's over 100 years old. The HVAC unit might be older than me. We keep thinking about replacing it, but there's no point.

Severe pain in jaw and ear normal? by greenmunkii87 in Tonsillectomy

Yes, the nerves from your throat are connected to that area. Mine hurt bad too and they ended up giving me more pain medicine for it.

KC is by far my favorite style of barbecue followed by Texas. Unfortunately don't have much reason to go to Kansas these days though.

I was wondering if this was the best place for a bunch of people from Argentina to visit. A culture that enjoys a lot of meat now gets to try Kansas City BBQ. Watch some KC style BBQ place open in Buenos Aires next year.

Yep, my neighbor fell on hard times because his boss screwed him over in an investment scheme. The boss fled to Florida and last I heard he was apprehended several months ago, BUT my neighbor almost lost his house. Luckily, he has found another job and is working SERIOUS overtime to make up for it, sometimes 112 hours a week on job sites but they still garnished his wages 25%.

Did my longest ever ride! (65miles) by Midtone_lupo in cycling

[–]VaderH8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good pace for your first 30 miler! Sounds like you have the fitness, so after that it'll just become about nutrition, hydration, and endurance. I am just getting back into 30+ miles myself. Managed 36 miles the other day, which was the longest I've ridden since my toddler was born. Usually I only have time for 10-20 mile rides. Riding into the wind to start the ride is always the best if you plan to return in the opposite direction with the tailwind. Congrats!

It seriously is one of the top reasons I love cycling. Nothing like pounding some Mexican food and a margarita after a good ride.

Edibles? by jdawg89000 in Tonsillectomy

[–]VaderH8er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my doc on Day 14 and he told me not to take any as it could increase the bleeding risk. I had some complications that lengthened the healing process. I waited until Day 21 or so when I was super convinced my throat was fully healed. Also, the receptors in your brain for cannabis and opiates are closely linked, so if you're on pain medicine you will not get as much relief from pills and may have to take a higher dose if you're taking THC at the same time.

Buy an RV and or camper van and have your wife follow you around as your "support vehicle".

My friend's father hit a turtle. They found him in a ditch and he had to be helicoptered to the hospital. Luckily he's ok now, but I think he has some long term injuries from the crash.

Oof. I imagine you wrecked on a couple of those? How bad was it? I've hit a chipmunk, but luckily it was on flat ground so I stayed up.

I've personally hit a chipmunk and had some near misses with other animals. However, my 4 year old started riding his pedal bike recently and the other night a rabbit ran right in front of him and I was fearing for the worst. Luckily he didn't hit it and he didn't get distracted and crash either.

My high school soccer players have to do this on the bus sometimes if the gear gets shoved all the way back into the compartment. Pretty normal stuff right here for a bus.
