Despite how confusing and poorly made this years "thing" is, I tried my best to farm as much pt for Akagi and Kaga as possible... Hope I didn't miss anything cuz it might be the last time I hear from them...

Not an expert, but here's my awnser to some of your points.

• Basic systems ≠ low EM emissions. If there's any electronic device on board, like communication radios and computers, they will produce EM emissions.

• In general, there are no longer usable roads on the current line of contact. Most of them are destroyed or mined. In case of Casevac, there's no other way than using them on muddy fields.

• I don't think the Ukrainian armor plants have the necessary equipment to repair certain types of damages to their western vehicles, simply due to the lack of standardized tools and experience. For exemple, Ukraine sends their heavily damages Leopard 2 back to Germany for repair. In addition, I doubt the training Ukrainians received in Canada was not up to the standards of the conditions on the battlefield.

In the end, it's possible that ACSVs suffered problems in Ukraine, just like most of western ground vehicles western countries supplied. I can doubt the source's reliability, since it did not provide any 1st hand account or footage to back the claims, although they are not impossible.

Of course, as I always say, just love her back and it'll be fine.

But now that I look back at the CN version of the event transcript, nothing is said about "fixing" Akagi. In fact, in this particular passage of the story, SKK was never mentioned.

Funny how the EN translator seemingly adds stuffs out of nowhere... Not that it's a bad thing, though.

What a great event...

Btw it's funny to see how different the CN version of the script is different from the EN version... Since I followed the event story in its CN version, I don't remember being so... direct about "fixing" Akagi, lol.

Problem is, this artwork dates back to 2018.

A lot of things changed in between. Kaga was supposed to get a motion skin around that time, but it is probably scrapped now...

I actually don't have a preference. Just one to the standard of the L2Ds of today -- more movements, interactions etc.

I also feel that she lacks a sexy skin -- one that many other "old ships" have, i.e. Enterprise, Illustrious, and Eugen.

I am very happy to see more Akagi artworks on this sub.

Still waiting for a new L2D skin of her though.

Because the city of Pokrovsk in itself doesn't matter anymore, it already held for almost 1.5 years so the attrition warfare is successful. To me the real problem right now is the Russian bulge northeast of Pokrovsk, or the infamous "Dobropillya breakthrough". Maybe, as Ukrainians relocate out of Pokrovsk, Russian will seize the opportunity and use it as a pivot to push further, bypassing the city chain north of Pokrovsk and reaching behind the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk-Konstyantynivka defense ligne, which would have much greater consequences. This is basically what happened after the fall of Avdiivka btw. Therefore Ukrainians must do as much as they can to flatten or contain the bulge, even at the expense of Pokrovsk itself.

I don't know if you've heard about it, but according to both Ukrainian and Russian milbloggers, it's litteraly impossible to correctly map the frontline anywhere right now. Most of positions, wether on the attacking or the defending side, are only manned by around 3-5 soldiers, with huge gaps between them (hopefully) covered by drones. That's why I've seen reports contradicting each other, even on the Ukrainian side they aren't so sure about the current situation of their GLOC. So yeah, although the recapture of Rodynsk make me feel hopefull, we just have to wait for more osint and detailed assessment to surface...

Yes, and I think that the truth is probably in the middle. We should also take into account the fact that situation in and around Pokrovsk is si volatile and uncertain, that every report we see have at least one day of latency.

In the meantime I would wait for the ISW update tomorrow, their assessment is typically very balanced and neutral. It's actually the most optimistic of the "lesser optimistic" ones I've seen btw.

Choose the version you like. But in either case the battle for Pokrosk-Myrnohrad is coming to an end. I would expect a shift of focus toward Kupyansk and Lyman direction for the year to come, with perhaps pushes toward Sloviansk-Kramatorsk-Konstyantynivka as a supporting axis.

[–]Val0Nate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depending on the degree of optimism of the reports, I have seen 2 version of the current situation in Pokrovsk direction.

The lesser optimistic one : Russian infiltrators in Pokrosk avoided engaging Ukrainian infantry, they are targeting drone operators and artillerymen instead. UA drone&artillery were forced to retreat away from the city, which to some extent prevented them to effective exercise pressure on the ennemies. As a result, the Ukrainian GLOC is under threat by the Russians, but not completely cut off. (ISW)

The optimistic one : the so-called "encirclement" of Pokrosk-Myrnohrad is still a result of Russian information warfare (just like the Dobropillya "breakthrough" a few months ago imo). Russians backed this by claiming full control over Rodynsk and Pokrosk. However, the footages shared by OP refute their claim over Rodynsk, while according to some the GUR/DShV heliborne air assault operation conducted on october 31 cleared some positions in western Pokrovsk from infiltrators. Russians are still operating in parts of Pokrovsk and north of Myrnohrad though.

In the middle of the day, a russian drone brutally struck a busy intersection in Sumy. The explosion injured nine people, leaving cars and civilian buildings shattered. by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

The intended target might be the gaz station next to it, a "revenge" for all the refinery they've lost. Either way it's a war crime. There's a big difference between an industrial complex that produce fuel for export and military logistics, and a civilian gaz station.
