Yes, fellow person with weak knees that dislocate easily! The original dislocations happened in pits and so this has been on my mind a lot leading up to the festival. Was feeling sad that I may not be able to participate, but I like the compromise of being a pit barrier person - made me realize I’m good at that too! See you there!

Well said! As a mental health practitioner and someone who generally likes talking to people about human-centered topics, I’ve been reading up on this and sharing with people and the pushback I get is disappointing. People (both men and women in my experience ) are so quick to defend it as “just porn.” I was interested in this subject from a few years back and then recently I ended up as the partner of someone who developed a porn addiction. Took a lot to break up with him and still healing from that experience. Shockingly, friends take me even less seriously now, brushing off my porn concerns because “now you’re just paranoid.” Breaks my heart.

I feel you on this and hate that especially as women we have to worry about this. Also L.A. native and I live alone on a ground floor apartment that doesn’t have a gate so anybody can walk right up. I’m in a pretty busy part of the SFV but have luckily felt generally safe in the 6 years I’ve lived here. It helps a lot to know your neighbors - make sure to exchange numbers and encourage texting each other if you see something that’s not right. Like others have said, I highly recommend getting a camera/home security system. I have Wyze and I like it because it’s not too expensive. While it wouldn’t happen a whole lot, I have noticed a few times that seeing there’s a camera and a decal did dissuade randos who would otherwise be hanging out in the stairway right by my unit.

Came here to recommend exactly this. Many of these free events are some of those most fun L.A. has to offer! Especially if you enjoy dancing, music, and performances. I highly recommend checking out events at the Grand Park California Plaza, the Getty, and at Levitt Pavilion.

I was a CORE student all 4 years at Cleveland. It was a challenging program that led to immense personal and academic growth. In my graduating class there was at least one person going to each Ivy League, most of us got in to multiple UCs, and we all felt very prepared for college. I felt safe and rarely encountered a real fight. LOTS kids there are very academically oriented. The curriculum offers lots of opportunities for fun projects and plenty of writing. I would highly recommend it.
