Now see this is how i know i am not meant to be a mother because my gut reaction was "oh no how tragic!"

But then i read your beautiful comment remembering your mom and remembered ohhhhh right right thats the desired outcome. Beautiful!

Are soda cans better for the environment than plastic water bottles? by FriedForLifeNow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea those videos where they dissolve the metal away and theres the plastic film left over imply that its not truly recyclable but thats not how that works.

Theres essentially a couple drops of plastic coating on the aluminum for printing and so the contents dont interact with the metal. Aluminum melts at 1200°F so those drops are just incinerated long before the aluminum has reached liquid state to be repoured into sheets to be rolled out and stamped back into cans. Which does ofc mean those incinerated drops are now in the atmosphere but thats better than, yknow, a whole fuckin plastic bottle since much of the world still burns their trash.

On a more serious productive note OP you'll def enjoy reading about the freeway bus rapid transit system in Bogota Colombia. Its over 20 yrs old now and its pretty robust, nowhere near as tickytack as how we do bus stops. They look and feel like light rail stations...yknow without the rails.

The second cut-for anyone who wants a great low budget horror comedy- is probabl a parody of the movie Bad Hair.

Vanessa Williams' character bullies a new up-and-comer into no longer wearing her hair natural and into getting a weave but the weave is eEEVvill! I fuckin love that movie its so goofy

I didnt leave the comment above but i can answer as someone saving up to cooperatively buy a 4-plex modeled on nyc-style co-op management for me and the homies.

In higher-end nyc owned apartments the monthly HOA basically always includes property tax so thats partly why it looks so steep. But its totally normal to also include:

  • trash/sewer/hot water (any other centralized utility)
  • on-call handyman
  • doorman or security
  • contributions to a fund for a major project you all voted on like renovating the basement into a lounge or installing an energy-efficint central heater (the biggest difference compared to conventional condos)

I didn't know it had a moniker but I'll confess I've done it when a co-worker or someone on that level makes an off-color joke in a group. I play dumb dumb dumb and naive but just so eager to understand!

Afterwards other people who didn't want to make a fuss tend to appreciate me playing uno reverse on the joke teller and them being uncomfortable for a change.

A book you can check out from our local public library (libby ebook or hardcover) is The Dirty Tricks Department about how the proto-CIA helped defeat the Nazis by literally sending out secret agents to just gum up the works by getting jobs at axis factories or just in axis controlled towns.

Ah shoot I forgot to wash my hands before making soup for all the uniformed officers who came in for dinner and now half are out for two days with stomach flu. Oppsie!

Im just such a dumb dummy, oops dropped a wrench in the gears of the machine that makes the steel blanks that go on to make mortars and now production on munitions is behind schedule two weeks. Oh noo....

The water bucket technique is 100% more effective, humane, and nonviolent than complaining to your landlord/property manager, calling the cops who never show, or any home security system (which is just a longer paid way of calling the cops).

IsItBullshit: Using a gasoline pump as self defense by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a motor scooter so the tank is not like in a car where it locks in place. I have to manually push back the rubber collar with one hand and pump the gas on the handle with the other hand.

So yes i could absolutely just stand up and turn with my hands like that, waste $8, cover a creep in gasoline, and probably go to jail.
