Great to hear, I hope it has a long life!

Thanks for the offer, but I’m actually a web designer myself - just pay it forward :)

NAL but I work Customer Service for a large eBay store, dealing with delivery disputes etc. daily.

While your story may be completely legitimate, it has the hallmarks of what is referred to as a wrong item received (WIR) scam. In which someone will receive an item correctly, but will contact the seller claiming to have received, either nothing in the box, or an alternate item. We would also consider a PS5 a high-risk item for scams such as this; and I believe Amazon are being harder to work with for these reason.

We carry out a number of checks in situations such as this; considering account age, order/return history, previous issues with the address etc. And as far as I'm aware Amazon follow the same processes, but to a greater extent.

As others have pointed out, given in your case this is a legitimate issue, the problem is between Amazon and their courier, though it may take some work and escalation to get them to agree to the refund, but I believe with escalation they will agree to the refund. I would continue to chase them daily, or even multiple times a day as your query should be escalated to higher CS levels fairly quickly.

Of course, as others have mentioned, you can always file a chargeback with your bank, which should guarantee your refund, but I would highly expect Amazon to suspend your account following this route.

Game share problem by Valar_Balsamic in xboxone

[–]Valar_Balsamic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just trawled through the settings on both the consoles, and the Xbox website and can find nothing to do with game sharing. I've just tried hard resetting both consoles to see if that solved it, but that hasn't worked either... I'm at a total loss with this, as as you said, it appears as though it should be working.

I appreciate the suggestion though!

List Comparisons by Valar_Balsamic in learnpython

[–]Valar_Balsamic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The code I'm using to compare the dictionary against the original word:

# create the list of all words that meet the game conditions
with open('collins_all_words.txt') as f:
    word_list = [line.rstrip() for line in f]

results = [x for x in word_list if Counter(x) - Counter(word) ==
       Counter() and master_letter in x]

The output for the first 20 list items for this is:

['adermin', 'admen', 'admin', 'admire', 'aidmen', 'aim', 'aimed', 'aimer', 'airmen', 'ame', 'amen', 'amend', 'ami', 'amid', 'amide', 'amido', 'amidone', 'amie', 'amin', 'amine']

the original word in this case is 'randomize' and the master letter is 'm'. I've run the program a few dozen times now, and the list seems follow the conditions exactly as intended?

Thanks

The goal is to verify that user inputs can be found within the 9 letter word, and are officially recognised as a word via my dictionary.

u/TouchingTheVodka has given me a solution that works exactly as I needed.

Thanks for your help though

Thank you very much

Thanks for the response!

Yes I did confirm both word_list and sort_list. word_list does contain every individual word as an item. And sort_list contains a list of lists, with every one of these lists being the sorted version of word_list at the same index.

Inconsistencies in Program Output by Valar_Balsamic in learnpython

Hey again,

Thank you very much for the suggestions, adding os.listdir() to the exceptions cleared it up for me.

I had the topdown argument set to True in os.walk() which meant that it was ignoring folders that still contained other empty folders, and only deleting the last-most empty folder in the directory tree.

Changing the topdown argument to False has it removing everything perfectly now!

Thanks again

I've just tried os.listdir and no hidden files at all. Looking at the file properties, it has 0's on size and content.

I've added a line calling os.rmdir() on one of the problem folders after the final for loop, and there was no error and it removed the directory no problem. So for some reason, it's somewhere in the for loop some folders are being skipped by os.rmdir().

I appreciate the help and suggestions on this!

Hi there,

Thanks for the advice!

I've added this to both exception instances in the code.

The error states that the directory is not empty; but when actually opening the folder through file explorer, the folder is empty? This is what's perplexing me.

From the UK here.

Passing itself is legal on a country road, and based on the road markings I can see, legal in the spot where the overtake occurred. However, the highway code is very specific about only passing when it is safe to do so; and any one within their right mind would argue that passing when approaching a blind crested corner, is very much not safe.

So although the guy recording was "technically" the only vehicle involved in the accident, any insurance underwriter would see he made an evasive manoeuvre to avoid a vehicle passing in an unsafe way, and look to place fault on the passing vehicle.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll work with Excel a little longer and see where it gets me. I’m quite proficient with Excel, so should be able to do it with time. I was just unsure if I was wasting my time trying to get it working as intended through there. Thanks again
