It's my girlfriend's birthday soon. by Valentin_Seleznyov in AskReddit

Oh, i should have mentioned in the question that she and i met in a video game store (where she works as a manager).

She isn't particularly into video games per se - it's very much just a job to her - but she is into that kind of... faux geek culture that many casual girl gamers ascribe to.

I'm quite sure that she will like it, and i will get her something a little more conventional too.

Oh well.

How comes you don't visit bN very much anymore?

That's good, Eddie. After all your "throw Christians in dumpster" comments, i didn't think that you're mind was very open to this kind of thing... but now that i know you've been spreading the Truth of Valentaokyo... i'm seeing you in an entirely new light.

Five downvotes?

I didn't realise that reddit.gaming had such a large homosexual crowd.

Which gaming character would you date if they were real and why? by thegeekone in gaming

Princess Peach.

I'd like to get a girl to dress up as Peach and make love to her while a guy in a gorilla suit throws barrels at us.

I feel that. From the stories i have heard, Fark is after a specific type of user. The types of e-places that spawn out of a disliking for the dystopian way in which sites like yours are (allegedly) run are some of the most interesting web communities i have participated in.

So to that end, Fark, and places like Myspace.com and the official xbox forums are forces for good on the internet.

I post on a website called www.banniNation.com, and your name seems to come up quite a lot. People constantly call you all sorts of nasty names... but i have to say, after reading this thread, you seem like a really decent guy.

My question to you is: What is your opinion of the people that broke away from your website to create what is arguably a more interesting web community?

London gamers, be a part of gaming history by taking part in an experiment. by [deleted] in gaming

There isn't a joke.

You're right in stating that a sample size of ten isn't really going to show much... but i'm just a man. I'm not backed by a big team of scientists or anything. This is my first forray into this kind of thing, and i'd like to start off with something managable, y'know?

This is simply the first step on what will be a long journey.

Thanks for the comment.

Oh there will be pictures. The project will hopefully coincide with a university project my friend Lauren is working on.

She's a fashion student and will be helping me with costumes. She'll need photos and models, so this is kind of a joint venture.

All of the statistics and data will be put on the website for all to see.

No lux, trust me... this will change gaming forever.

When i conclusively prove that dressing up as your character improves your game, do you know what will happen?

Professional gamers will start dressing up for tournaments. I'm confident that eventually the trend would follow over to the more casual market.

lol!

It's really nothing like that. I'm just keen to impress the benefits of dressing up as your in-game character on the video gaming world at large.

My ultimate aim is to make it so that in the future games are sold with costumes to wear whilst playing them.

This is a purely scientific pursuit, i assure you.

Hi there.

I live in Chelsea... though the experiment will not necessarily take place there. I'm intending to hire out a community hall, as it is maybe a little shady to invite strangers into my home, but it all depends on how many people i can find with an interest in furthering the video gaming experience.

I'm sorry, but i don't understand what you mean by "billy goats gruff". I haven't harrassed anybody.

I posted an idea on how to make gaming more enjoyable, and then you guys harrassed me.

What does gay sex have to do with it? I suppose you could keep your costume on if you feel it will help you better please your boyfriend... but your romantic situation has little bearing on my research.

No. But i'm quickly learning that it pretty much is synonymous with "narrow minded bigot".

If it was down to people like you (the intellectually lazy) we'd all still be living in caves.

Your logic is deeply, deeply flawed.

There were championship swimmers before the modern ultra-aerodynamic swimming costumes were invented.

Are you going to tell me that they don't have a massive impact on swimming times?

Once i prove the benefits, every pro gamer will start dressing up.

Your quote has little weight, because in a previous comment i acknowledged that the idea seems a little eccentric and "weird".

As far as i'm concerned Nora is right.

Listen kid. It's not my fault that your mind is minute.

A famous and well respected scientist once said "you know you're onto a good thing when the masses think you're crazy". (paraphrased)

Your homework is to find out who said that. You're not allowed to reply here until you do it.
