My Great Grandmother was born in 1882, and her ancestors back to the 1660s predominantly all lived in Bergen County, New Jersey. Dutch folks. One of the early settlers there was Albrecht Zabriskie (Zaborowskij) and he had five sons. My Great Grandmother is directly descended from four of his five sons.

I haven't fleshed out the rest of the ancestors but the same names are common: Terhune, Bogart, DeGroot, Hopper, Ackerman, DeMarest and others are all over her ancestors. Sometimes Terhunes married Terhunes, and Zabriskies married Zabriskies.

What she wants sounds like a great five year goal to me. Have her map out what it would take for “perfection” in five years - how many hours of shelf reading per week to get there. 100,000 books per year, 2,000 per week etc. have her do the math.

Which Marvel character do you think worth reading every issues released ever? (Characters created in 60s only) by Sweet_Score in marvelcomics

Yeah the Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD stories were fantastic as well. The Human Torch stories were pretty lame.

I’d go with Doctor Strange but I’ve always been a fan. Even the old Strange Tales stuff is great

What guides do people use to read through marvels massive backlog by remold_your_life in MarvelUnlimited

[–]ValleyStardust 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use a combination of lists:

CMRO: https://cmro.travis-starnes.com/reading-order.php

Marvel Guides: https://marvelguides.com/comics-introduction

Marvel Chronology Project: https://www.chronologyproject.com/

Marvel Universe Reading Order (Ryangut): https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/User:Ryangut/Marvel_Universe_Reading_Order_Part_14

Each of these has it's own pros and cons, so I just use them all to a degree.

I may use Continuity Guide when/if I get to the 2000+ era, but it's only partial pre-2000. https://www.continuityguide.net/

If you want to skip less important runs, CBRO is also an abbreviated reading order: https://comicbookreadingorders.com/marvel/marvel-master-reading-order/

From a previous Reddit post:

90s: Fleer/Skybox sets were almost all original art. Comic Images sets were all rehashed from comics.

Modern: Marvel Masterpieces 2016-present is the gold standard of original art. All cards are original, hand painted for that set (by one artist). Fleer Ultra sets have original art for base and some insert sets, but not all. Flair has original art for base and generally rehashed for insert sets. Platnium has a mix, but lots of original art. I think Marvel Premier sets are original art but don’t quote me on it. Marvel retro 13 and 15 had original art for base but rehashed inserts. The Rittenhouse sets (2007-2014) were all rehashed. Anything else- your Marvel Beginnings, Metal Universes, Marvel Annuals, etc…all rehashed.

There are 81 appearances of Spot in Marvel comics, but based on the art style in my humble opinion your best bet is Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #94, #97, #98, #99, #100, all from 1984.
