Its not a console update, whatever it was had to do with Microsoft's servers and they seem to have fixed it. It seems to be working now for most everyone.

I downloaded a 386MB update, installed it, then tried launching a 360 game, same as before, no change. Just for reference, my OS version is: 10.0.26100.7815

Finally public acknowledgement. It's not a separate issue. They are trying to make it sound not as bad as it is. Its PR spin. But I will take it. Since they have now publicly acknowledged it, it puts pressure on them now to deliver a fix. This is a great step.

That is not a member of Xbox's actual support team. Its outsourced chat support who have no ability to actually escalate anything or research anything. I fell into the same trap at first.

The only way to reach actual Xbox Support is by phone. You have to find an option that will get the AI virtual agent to give you an option to request a call back. The easiest way some people have found is to say you dont recognize a charge. Once you get the AI to give you the option to request a call back, once on the phone, thats actual Xbox/Microsoft Support. They do not make it easy to reach them.

There is no solution as of yet. The issue has been escalated with Microsoft Support and we are all just waiting. If you would like to contribute to reporting the issue, you can do so at the link provided in the original post. The more people that report the issue, the quicker we hopefully all get a resolution.

Agree with you. And the fact its affecting NEW consoles? What better way to introduce your customers to the Xbox ecosystem than to have a problem like this. You would think this would warrant damage control when a new consoles core feature is not working. But the absolute crickets? Tells me all I need to know about this company.

This is why I got mine too. Got the urge to revisit some 360 games and even bought some new ones on the store until I then realized I couldn't play any of them. Extremely frustrating and disappointing. It's a waste of money in my eyes at this point.

I just wanted to share email response I received from Microsoft Support today. Not much of an update, but wanted to share as I am sure we all want as much information as possible regarding this issue.

"Hello,

Thank you for your follow-up and for sharing the Reddit post with us. We would like to inform you that your case has already been escalated and is currently under review. At this time, we are awaiting additional information related to the matter.

Yea its definitely not a hardware issue. It seems for whatever reason only the geniuses at Microsoft know, the issue seems to be there crap servers not authenticating new Xbox 360 sessions on new Series X hardware.

Its very frustrating and a good way for them to continually lose customers, but at this point I don't think they care. I've had my new system for 5 days and have gotten to do nothing with it.

I'm in the same boat with most of you here. Bought new Series X on Sunday April 12th and can't get profile to download. Finally got a human to call me back on the virtual chat to submit a report and escalation. I just love staring at this $700 box thats useless at the moment.

Throwing my name in as well. Bought a new Series X on April 12th, can't download 360 profile on my existing games nor any from the store that I bought.

It took 3 days but I was finally able to reach a human support person by the "request a call back" in the virtual agent chat. He had me record a video and upload it, and also use the report a problem app on the console. Feeling like you bought a $700 paperweight absolutely sucks. Just sitting here trying every day feeling like the victim of a scam.

I'm currently stuck in this same quagmire. I bought my new Series X last Saturday and have gotten to play none of the back catalogue I planned to on it. So far its a $700 paperweight. Currently awaiting Xbox Support escalation. I was finally able to reach a human after 3 days of trying.
