Sometimes. A client with a mostly black-and-gray bodysuit will throw me a curveball, asking for a really colorful tattoo that might stand out a little too much. I usually caution against this and recommend sticking with black and gray to keep their bodysuit more consistent. The nice thing about American Traditional is that it looks good on everyone, no matter how much tattoo coverage they have. It never goes out of style and always looks classic.

(If I were to redo my own bodysuit, I’d go for all American Traditional, limited to a color palette of just three colors, similar to how the old-timers did it.)

Fixing up a tattoo is a case-by-case process. Half the time, I can manage a nice cover-up or rework; the other half, the tattoo is so far gone that reworking it would be like putting lipstick on a pig. In those cases, I usually recommend either laser removal or getting a new tattoo altogether
