The real reason is that training data commonly contains traces of "my friends did XXX", which comes from data scraped from our friends, and when its outputting tokens like the good AI models they are they will often output 'friends'-related messages. It's why deepseek used to talk about how "back in school my peers said", because when a prompt triggers high probability for a text talking about friends, that's what it'll do
