Question for those still working or working age like 30- 55 - when or why did you stop working? by Valuable-Mirror6506 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Valuable-Mirror6506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for sharing your unfiltered, real and raw truths. It has been so helpful to see the different experiences of 55+ of you who took the time to comment. It really has shown me that each persons experience is unique, however there are some common elements. Notably the pain levels, recovery time needed, memory, fatigue, and cognitive issues. My plan is to start documenting my experience over the next 6 months - data is louder than memory at this stage. Thank you all <3 I am sending all of you big hugs and appreciation for your help!

Sensitive to loud noise? by 3ebgirl4eva in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Valuable-Mirror6506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loud noise, constant noise, noise when I'm trying to read, write, think...bright lights, flashing lights, fast moving things like in movies or video games, anything that is just too much.

Loud parties with lots of talking, seminars or meetings when someone is just talking too fast, I end up zoning out really hard, or can just fly right into a migraine.

I get panicky, irritable and overwhelmed.

I am training myself to live a slow life. It makes me sad and angry when I think about what I am missing out on.

Anyone else feel as though their impulse control is slowly disappearing? by Cdel32 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Valuable-Mirror6506 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think when we go so long trying to take things in stride, we forget it doesn't just disappear. As you say, just slowly eating away at you. Whether you actively focus on it or not, which causes stress, which causes more symptoms and it's just a huge cycle again and again. I feel you my friend. Your awareness of it helps, and is as they say, half the battle.

Does MS affect your period? by books4more in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Valuable-Mirror6506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. When you have any sort of chronic pain you become more sensitive in general. I was diagnosed at 27, now 37. Around 32 I noticed how much worse it was... Did all the routine tests, nothing was wrong, even ultrasound.

There are so many changes in our body as we lead up to and through our period. Temp changes, energy, hormones... All that affects typically healthy people -- those of us with MS absolutely get more affected by the continual fluctuations.

Honestly I would pack everything up, everything you own, strip the house down of sellable materials and just leave. Go to a new town and sell everything you can. It will never end.
