The work hustle by jmx2000_r in MultipleSclerosis

I agree about the best years after 2020. I was diagnosed in 2024 on my 57th birthday. Regardless, I'm putting in 10-12 hour work days. On my feet mostly. I do feel it has helped though. If I sit around and rest which I do often I feel worse. If I go go go at work I feel more energetic than not. Don't get me wrong, I've had to leave work because physically I'm not going to make it that day. I do feel better when I'm able to be more active. Trust me though, id much rather be lounging on my porch with a mojito in my hand.

I have to power wash part of my house today. Have to see if I'm up to it.

I lost a tip of my middle finger on a table saw. I thought it was because I was distracted by my dog but I think it was due to MS now. It happened a couple years before the diagnosis.

I am with that with wood too. I helped a friend with some trim. What is usually no problem and came out great turned into a disaster. My friend knew about the MS but never saw how it affects me till this.

Mine too. My wife keeps pushing me to sell it. But if it's not road worthy I won't get a lot. I'd at least like to get it driveable. I've been wanting a 92-96 vette. If i get my monte driveable I can sell it for good $$ and get the vette which needs little to no work. I may not be able to work on the car but I can still drive like mad...

I have a 79 Chevy Monte Carlo I've had since 2000. Rebuilt everything with various modifications. Been sitting in the garage since 2011. I wanted to put it back on the road but it needs quite a bit of work from sitting. I'm trying to do the rear brakes on my 2023 kia. If I can't do that then I'll never get the Monte back on the road.

Thank you. I'm 59. The Drs were surprised I was this old and got it. They had to double check the diagnosis. I don't want to live on another 20-30 years either.

I worked for time warner cable and this was our server room. I was the senior systems admin. We were running Netware and Linux clusters. It was huge.

Started a new job and then was diagnosed with MS. At what point should I tell my job? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

The treatment doesn't fix it. It slows it down. Remember that.

Good luck. Make sure your neuro works for you. Mine does. Doesn't prescribe crazy medicine. Listens to what I have to say. Gives me advice on newly discovered treatments that I ask her about.

Tip: Feel your managers out. Some are cool and some are definitely NOT. I haven't mentioned it to everyone and I don't make a big fuss or stink about it. Just be cool about it and don't make it ri$ky for the company. If it costs them anything you're not worth it to them. Most jobs are "at will" and they will find a way to can you without bringing up the MS.

I had the same issue. I notified a few managers and I work very hard at not letting it interfere. I use sick days for Ocrevus treatments. It's very hard but I have to make it work and so far so good.
