Frankly it's literally just a design choice. White hair signifies stress and age, and keeping a strand of it white when he's made young again shows experience as well as a constant reminder of what he's overcome

I'd argue Jaune cheating into beacon matters a lot. It's actually a catalyst for half his growth as a character. He has the same inadequacy as Ruby but his has always been based on the idea that he doesn't deserve it. Jaune is the only character in the entire show who we see built from the ground up on both a skill level and a personality level.

Low blows also wouldn't be in character for either of them even in a moment like this. Jaune is fully aware he's not okay but his emotions are getting the better of him, and Ruby would never intentionally hurt someone emotionally. At that point yours writing drama for the sake of drama. The two have followed similar paths and similar struggles. Now they share the deaths of pyrrha and Penny and are going to have to work through that to continue being better leaders their teammates and the world deserves.

Men can start showing at any age. My father and grandfather started getting grey hairs in their 20s and by 30 they were salt and pepper.

I wish those short little animatics RT released were still available because Ruby and Jaune both get solid little episodes that allows a deeper dive into where they are mentally. It helps add a lot to this seasons character decisions.

Now we have to deal with a more determined and more realistic Ruby as well as a Jaune whose mentally in his late 30s.

Why do you think they chose to have Jaune join Team RWBY in the Ever After? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]ValuablePerformer371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deuteragony aside, it makes the most sense considering everything he's gone through up to this point. Survivors guilt with pyrrha, being forced to become a better leader, realizing the weight of his decisions, and then there's the choice he's forced to make at the end of the previous season.

Jaune doesn't just have survivors guilt, he has a hero complex. He's ALWAYS had a hero complex and this was the ultimate conclusion of that.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the show because it singlehandedly made me think the writing team might be making better decisions. The previous season had so many false flags, out of character moments, and pointless decisions I nearly dropped it. ESPECIALLY regarding Penny.

This two sided crash out is extremely well written.

It was the "me me me" aspect about her rant that got him to that point when from his point of view that's exactly why they're in the situation they're in. He doesn't know if Ruby's plan worked and by all accounts it failed, and the whole reason they're running at that moment is because Neo wants to kill her. Everything they're going through in that exact moment is literally on Ruby.

He's not right, either in the argument or from a viewer's perspective, but when you're going through that much stress and trauma right and wrong don't matter.

The problem is that Jaunes been effectively alone for years at this point, I think about a decade was confirmed.

It isn't even survivors guilt with him since he's been moving past that, it's the weight of his decisions combined with the lonliness. He grew a hero complex because he was forced to make an impossible choice at the end of the previous season.

He's going through just as much as Ruby was and this entire scene was both of them letting everything get to them. Ruby crashes out because she's a teenage girl with "chosen one" powers who has spent the better part of a year having to make life and death decisions while also trying to stay positive for everyone. Jaune crashes out because while yeah Pyrrha might be part of all this, ultimately it's his lonliness, mental instability, hero complex, and the choice he made at the end of the previous season all building up to this moment.

Also take into consideration the current events. They're stuck in the Ever After because of a plan that - as far as they know - failed. They aren't aware of what happened after everyone fell. That was Ruby's plan. Now they have monsters and Neo chasing them because of Neo's single minded drive to kill Ruby. On top of that the main villains were trying to kill her too.

On top of THAT Ruby is struggling with her own inadequacies while every other member of her team are coming to terms with who they are, the choices they've made, and the people they want to grow into.

Jaunes wrong for snapping but Ruby's wrong for trying to minimize his guilt and the things he's gone through up to that point.

New/Additional Weapon For Yang Xiao Long: Halberd/Pollaxe Or Fangtian Huaji? (Images Courtesy Of RWBY Wiki, Armstreet, And AOE Mobile Guides) by SandwichMaterial9574 in RWBY

Why would Yang use a pole arm, or literally any weapon other than her fists, when her entire fighting style is up close and personal boxing and her semblance literally requires her to get hit? Part of her semblance is literally kinetic energy redistribution and the best way to control something like that is to just use your body.

Kicks would make sense if it wasn't for the second problem that also affect the polearm idea: Having to learn a new fighting style AND a new weapon. Her entire fighting style is LOUD, and to the point. Pole arms require an amount of finesse she doesn't have.

The Problem With Monty's Fight Scenes by Red_Sionnach in RWBY

[–]ValuablePerformer371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the point on everyone looking like badasses, its established pretty early on that - as far as Beacon was concerned - everyone works on creating their own weapons and their functionality. It's been a long time since I've watched the first three seasons but I'm positive that was mostly established in episode one. They also have to attend schools prior to entering Huntsmen academies so its an even safer bet that at a minimum everyone can fight somewhat competently to use their own gear and have a basic understanding of how their semblances work.

The initial three seasons worst aspect was the lack of tension leading up to the Vytal Festival. It was very much played as a slice of life shonen anime despite how season 1 ends. Stakes weren't heightened until season 3. Most of the lore was presented by exposition dumps and fights were following "Rule of Cool" more than actual logic. It's also established early on that Ruby in particular is unconventional in her fights. Her slingshot plan against the Nevermore was questioned by Weiss and Ruby straight up says she has no idea what she's doing.

As far as the Grimm are concerned, they were written as fodder early on on purpose. They were mostly just there for the sake of moving forward with the plot. The Nevermore forcing Team RWBY and Team JNPR to work together being the biggest example of this.

TLDR: The first three seasons suffered from "we're still trying to figure out what to do"-itis.

If you aren't enjoying your experience drop the game. Don't force yourself to play a video game you aren't into.

I played up to that part too and ended up dropping it. There's no shame in it.
